Underwhelmed by webcast

I watched the DVC Memories webcast last night, and though I realize it's a small matter in the overall scheme of the universe, I gotta say it was amateurish at best. The script was hackneyed, the segues were strained, the information wasn't terribly informative, and the hosts were plastic-y (and the young blonde woman seemed to have partied hard the night before). To be fair, I have no plans to do an add-on anytime soon, but this effort certainly didn't make me want to do so, either. The entire 30+ minutes lacked pizzazz or style or anyone who could have made it an enjoyable Disney infomercial. Even the Top 5 videos they ran carried little emotional heft (the one on TV with the pizza box is way better but didn't make this list?). In the end, I felt the producers, directors, and actors had little pride of ownership in the final product. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter?

I forgot to tune in....Looks like I didn't miss much.

:sad2: Sounds like the other webcasts recently...too bad we can't have our 30 minutes back...I have watched two and kinda cringed at the mediocrity. :guilty:

I agree. I have watched 3 webcasts now and while the other two had some entertainment value this one just reeked. I don't know why they called it a DVC webcast when really 99% of it was about their new making memories promo.

On a side note, this webcast got me thinking. If they can do this why can't they webcast the association meetings so that those that can't travel to Disney can take part. As an DVC member I would even be willing to pay a fee to watch the webcast.

I agree totally! I doubt I'll watch another.

I was watching for the "free" lithograph... I thought the whole process was rather silly! The host in the studio was acting as if she didnt know the camera was on at times. The blonde girl was rather odd. The guy showing the clips was very annoying! And the gentleman reveiling the incentives kept saying "wait for it" was rather lame!

Glad to know I was not the only one to think this was not a good presentation.

I will watch anything "Disney", lol. I really wish they'd make these webcasts focus on the DVC resorts vs. sappy generic stories. If they want people to add on, then show us photos of resort interiors, exteriors, amenities, etc. While I know lots about the DVC resorts there are plenty of people who don't and would be more enticed to buy or add-on if they could SEE what they'd be buying. Also I clicked on the link that was supposed to have additional information about incentives and still only saw info on BLT's. ---Kathy

I found it to be a waste of time. Not very entertaining or informative, I would have been more interested if there were resort photos or video, and something, ANYthing to hold my attention. Honestly, I x'd out halfway though .....snooze

I thought it was really cheesy. The blond looked like she had just returned from a New Years Eve party, I didn't think the clips they chose were all that great and the whole dynamic with the host was lame. It did anything but suck me in and capture my interest. I love watching all things Disney, but this was boring.

You know, under other circumstances the mediocrity in a webcast might be forgiveable, but from the Walt Disney Company???????? :confused3

Like many of the pp's - I found it highly lacking and mediocre at best. The only two reasons I watched it, since the last two were just as bad, was the lithograph, and to see whatever they showed of Aulani. While it wasn't much, it was fun to see whatever they would show of the new resort. That was the only part I enjoyed, even though Joe Rohde was very stiff and kind of annoying himself.

At least they didn't talk about all the non-Disney places you could trade out to. What got on my nerves was the fake sniffles after each video.

I got the feeling that the blond woman (who had a hairstyle that I attempted ONCE in the mid-90s and it was heinous then, heinous now, curls should not point *into* the face IMO) had a bit of a cold.

I agree 100%.

Come on, let's focus on the positives...Dee Vee Cee wasn't in it! :dance3:

True!

It's just mystifying why they don't show the resorts.

However, DS was watching over my shoulder, and then he ran and got the Last Good WDW advertisement disc created, and we watched the 2005 info DVD for the parks. The one with Erin (now appearing on various shows like Law and Order), the Leisure guy (now appearing in cable/satellite ads), Luke, and the kid-lady. Love that one!

It's really only for the Kool-aid drinkers anyway. But it is basically the way DVC is treating the members these days.

arthur06 - the lithograph I got from the last webcast was the lamest thing I have ever seen. No quality to it. You could gotten a better quality by making a color copy of a magazine cover on a copy machine. I think I wound up throwing it away.
