Understanding Tickets

OK, my partner and I just want to hang out at AK for five days - no other parks, no park hopping, no water partks, no Disney Quest. So, do I buy a Magic Your Way Base ticket for 5 days? Or is there some other strategy I'm missing?

Thank you for your help. We're spoiled, always booking DVC and park hopping like crazy, but this trip is a cash trip and just one resort.

A 5 day base ticket will suit you fine.

Even after you get there, if you change your mind and want to do more, you can add more features to the ticket. (Don't use up the 5 day as-is and also buy a second ticket for the same vacation.)

Other strategies have to do with future trips, you probably already know that the 10 day non-expiring ticket is a great bargain.

Yep, that's what I would do, if you are a receiver of mousesavers newsletter you can get a link to ticketmania and get a cheaper discount on that 5 day ticket.

OK, just to confuse things, my family is going down in December 05 for a nine day trip where we'll be all over the parks (we would usually get a length of stay pass) and now I'm wondering if my partner and I, when we go down in Dec, should just get APs, given that we'll be right back in six months time (thinking July 06 at AK)?

Does that make financial sense?

Furthermore, when the DVC site says, "The Pass is good for 365 days from exchange certificate redemption. Renewals will be valid for 365 days from original Pass Anniversary Date," does that mean that if I buy the APs NOW, but don't activate them until December, then their good until next December and if I want to renew them I would be do it in December, not when I first puchased them?
