Understanding holding points...

We recently bought AKV and have 220 points to use or bank between May 1 and December 1. (We have a December Use Year.) I'm contemplating making a reservation for the fall, which is after our banking window. Two of the people that would go with us are elderly, so any reservation I make COULD need to be cancelled. (I haven't needed to do that for any trips...YET.) I know that if I use 2008 points and I need to cancel a reservation within 30 days, the points go into the holding account, and I need to use them by 12/1/09 or lose them. If, instead, I banked all those points, but borrowed enough 2009 points for a reservation say, in November '09, and that ressie needed to be cancelled, would the holding points need to be used by 12/1/09, OR could they be used in my 09 Use Year?

If you borrow points, they become current year points and must be used before the end of the current year. Dec 2009 points borrowed into the Dec 2008 UY will need to be used by Nov 30, 2009.

Borrowing is a final transaction. Borrowed points cannot be unborrowed.
