I have been to WDW MANY times and have heard about tours of the underground of the Magic Kingdom. Does anyone know about these? What are they called? How can I schedule one? Prices, etc. I think we might actually have the time this time to do one! :yay:

That is the Keys To The Kingdom tour, for over 16's. It's not just the utilidors (sp?), it's also a tour of MK, telling you lots of secrets about it. I did it and it was fantastic, so I really recommend it. I was a little bored underground though, we spent 45 minutes down there 2 years ago.

Keys to the Kingdom is the tour that goes into the Utilidors- its around $50 per person I think.

Wow! I am so impressed with this forum! I get such quick responses! Thank you so much for your help.

I took the tour in September 2004 and we went to the Utilidors but only saw some hallways. I understand that after 9-11, the tour down there was cut dramatically. It is still interesting! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I am SOOOOOO looking forward to this trip. We are going the end of June, 9 of us!

My son & I finally did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on our first trip back after he hit 16! We couldn't wait. We did it last May and had a blast. You see way more than just the underground tunnels. We went behind the scenes in lots of places. The tour lasts about 4-4 1/2 hours and included lunch at the Columbia Harbour House, which I had never gone to before cause it didn't interest me. It was a very nice surprise as well. You pick your lunch at the beginning of the tour. I have no idea what I had only that we both liked it! You'll wear a headset too so you can hear everything your guide is saying. If you have an AP or DVC you can get a discount, 10-20% off. It changed so I'm not sure of exact amount. I can tell you it was worth the $46/each for us and my son loved it too! I wish we didn't do it just to do it again! :thumbsup2
We are going t CA in Sept and will do that tour there and I can't wait.
Sign up, you'll love it!

Defineitely recommend this tour. Just remember it's longer than you think and will want to rest after. The lunch is great too.

You can also get a discount of 20% on the tour by using your Disney Visa card. We did this in December and it was the best money I spent at the MK. It didn't matter to us but the only downside to the KTTKT was that you actually have to use a days admision to the MK to take the tour. If you don't have parkhopping tickets you cannot go to any other park that day.

Rest after KTTK? Please tell me "no way"!
I have plans to go dance to Off Kilter and British Invasion after the KTTK tour next Saturday!

Ok since everyone here mentioned the KTTK tour, I will recommend the Backstage Magic Tour.

This tour is great, not only do you tour backstage at MK and the Utilidors you also get to tour backstage at MGM and Epcot.

Duration: 7 hours
Cost: $199◊ per guest

Additional Information
Lunch at Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano is included.

Guests must be at least 16 years old to attend this program.

Due to behind-the-scenes access, a photo ID is required while attending this program.

Wow! If the KTTK tour is 4-4-1/2 hours long, how long is The Backstage Magic Tour?

Just jumping in to say that the KTTK tour was the highlight of our Dec. 2004 trip. If you have been to the MK many times, it is a great way to see it in a new light! A must do for any die-hard WDW fan. :thumbsup2

We took the KTTK tour 2 weeks ago.

The tour was GREAT, but don't expect to see a lot of the utilidors. It was the very last thing we did, and we were not down there very long. It's just hallways anyway.

You do see other backstage areas and go on some rides (we went on Jungle Cruise and HM). The most interesting parts were just finding out info about rides and the park in general.

Are you allowed to take pictures on KTTK?

No. You are not supposed to bring cameras or large bags with you. You really keep moving, so I don't even think you COULD take a picture.

It is 7 hours

That takes care of one whole day! I can't wait. I love WDW and have always love the Polynesian. I am going to have to figure out these count down clocks! Our conversations are completely about WDW these days and my little granddaughter is sooooooo excited.
