Anyone seen Underdog yet to be able to give me some insight on why it's rated PG? My DD has seen it on the Disney Channel so much that now she wants to go see it. She's almost 4 so a lot goes right over her head still - any recommendations for or against taking her?

I saw Underdog with my 4 year old nephew satuday night. I loved it!!!!! So did my DH which surprised me. IMO I think it would be fine to take her, there are some jokes that she won't get and there are some sad/sorta scary parts but nothing worse the Bambi or Dumbo. At least that is what I think. Really if anything she might get bored because as I said a lot of jokes will go over her head. My DN enjoyed but looked at me funny when I laughed at some scenes, especailly the one about the white porclein drinking bowl, LOL. HTH

I like to look at commonsensemedia dot org for reviews. Even if you don't like their recommendation, the web site is pretty detailed about what exactly to look for. The PG rating can be for so many reasons, and I like to see exactly why it is rated PG before I take my 7 year old.

Thank you - I'll check out the website - and it sounds like what I suspected really for the PG rating. But I don't want to come out of the theater answering questions I'm not ready to be asked so I'd rather ask about it from others first.

Here in Canada it was rated G. Took DS (6) and he loved it! There are a few double entendres but nothing he caught on to.

DH and I took our almost 3 year old on opening night and it was awesome!! It was actually his first time at the movie theater, and he did great!

IMO, there was absolutely NOTHING in there that would warrant any apprehension.

I actually feel that a lot of the Disney movies have such terrible language, that I worry about putting those movies on for my son. He loves Toy Story, but with all the "moron" "you idiot!" and other phrases in there, I don't know....not good.

Go see Underdog, it was very cute!

We have not seen Underdog yet, although it is definitely on DD8's list (not so much DD4, but she will want to go when the time comes). Here is the link to a review from pluggedinonline.com. The site is very conservative and I don't always agree with what they say, but the reviews are extremely detailed so there are seldom any surprises when we go to see a movie. You can decide for yourself if any of the "issues" would bother you:

I like kids-in-mind.com because it gives breakdowns for violence, profanity, sexual references, and other categories. It's not a values-based judgment of the movie but rather a "here are the facts, judge for yourself" approach.

Here's the link for Underdog:

I should say I don't have kids of my own but I use the site when choosing movies to watch with my 11-year-old mentee and when SO and I are trying to decide if a movie will be too violent or scary for her tastes.

The scientist as the movie went on. He got a little scarier and meaner as the movie went on.

Saw it yesterday:thumbsup2
