A family friend purchased tickets to Disneyland through Undercover Tourist, later that day her husband died while skiing (heart attack). They didn't purchase the extra travel insurance and UT is saying there isn't anything they can do. They have even tried just changing the name on the ticket to someone else (who's alive). Any advice or further insights?

Oh my. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. My heart goes out to you and your friend and her family. How tragic.

I just purchased park tickets from UT today, and they said they were good until Jan. 12, 2021. I am not sure about transferring, but would they maybe take a trip before next year? We took a trip the year my grandma passed away and it was really healing. Just a thought.

Again, my deepest condolences.

They still want to go - they are just trying to either get their money back for his ticket or if that's not possible change the name to someone else so that they can still use the ticket.

I'm sure this has likely already been addressed. But if not...I would try to reach out to my credit card company to see what if any trip protection they could offer. I know Amex (depending on the card) has travel insurance. But best to check with the company that they booked with.

It doesn't matter whose name is "on the ticket" from purchase- anyone can use it at the gate (for the initial redemption).

That's what I was thinking too. The only trouble would be a plane ticket but airlines would work this out with a death cert.

100% this^^^. Someone else can use the ticket. Sorry to hear about your friend's situation, OP.

So sorry for your friend's situation. PP are correct that the name on the ticket isn't "set in stone" until the ticket is activated at the gate. At that time, when a photo is attached to the ticket, the name becomes very important and the ticket cannot be transferred to someone else. So at this time, your friend is technically fine -- the ticket will get a name and photo at the gate.

If I’m remembering correctly, they will scan the paper ticket and take the photo at the gate. Then, once your friend is in the gate, she can link all tickets to her Disneyland app, and it’s at that point that you enter in the names that go with each ticket. I think. I just did this for my parents in January when they came with us!!

So sorry for your friends’ loss. Devastating
