I think last night was the best. I thought the CEO seemed like he was very caring, and truly wanted to improve things for this workers

I really enjoy this show. I wonder how long it's going to be on?

when he was talking to the supervisor and the other lady that worked in the factory about supervisors doing more, all I could think was that lady that said they spend a lot of time in the breakroom is going to get an earful from the supervisor. I'm glad she said something though.

I hate White Castle, but the boss seemed like a nice guy:thumbsup2

I'm glad she said something too.

We don't have White Castle around here. My daughter didn't think the burgers looked very good, but we are not meat lovers.

I didn't see the show and I don't like sliders (my husband loves them) but I do know that White Castle is considered a good employer. Many of the people who work in the local restaurants have been there for many years. They pay better than other fast food places and they offer good benefits. It still wouldn't be enough for me to come home smelling like steamed onions every day. ;)

the only problem I had was at the reaveal with those 2.....Boss saw the inactivity of the supervisor and didn't call her on her behavior or the fibbing(I thought it was fibbing....she said we aren't always in the breakroom or doing nothing). I am hoping it ended up on the editing room floor.

Eh I am thinking they should be doing more for the employees. I LOVED the 7-11 guy- giving that one driver his own franchise! Giving them an opportunity.
Giving the one boy a $5000 scholarship was nice- but that will just pay for books. I don't know I was thinking it should be a bit of more. Telling the woman that had a heart attack that they are starting a wellness program was nice-but also just eh. I keep expecting a bigger something for the good employees.
I don't know I was underwhelmed. and White Castle burgers are called belly bombs for a reason!

I thought they were going to tell that young kid that they wanted to buy his salsa recipe and serve it in their stores! And I don't know what they mean about a wellness program...I told DH it would be nice to offer all employees health club memberships. Seriously, how else do you watch your weight and food choices if you are working in fast food?!

I really enjoy this show...it makes the higher-ups seem like "real" people...and hopefully they really are!:)

I actually prefer the White Castle method because it is more of an action for everyone. The free vacation or the free franchise are great for that one person, but how does that change the culture and employment picture of everyone else.

Implementing a scholarship program that employees can participate in, creating a health program, etc, have a larger impact and greater long term success of changing the things that are not working well.

I don't think you can buy a WC franchise. I think all stores are company owned.

That show is so staged, it bugs the heck out of me. Why didn't the guy even talk about what an unguarded OSHA nightmare that bun machine was? And how do they thoroughly cook the burgers with the bun already on top when the meat's raw? That can't be safe food handling (maybe they're pre-cooked??).

They are DELICIOUS!!! But, definately something you would have needed to grow up on. We call them "sliders"...

I agree with that- I didn't hear anything about an ongoing scholarship program. I must have missed that. I heard only the $5000 for that one boy. I too was thinking he was going to use his recipe as a condiment for the burgers.
Yes that is nice. I just was jaded I guess thinking that's it? I thought the vacations were a JOKE. A vacation isn't going to fix anybody. They needed more help than that. - I expected him to offer the boy more than just an "introduction to the culinary team" How about a job opportunity?

My sister actually started a wellness program at her former company. It's a struggle to implement though. She would have the company sponsor 5K. Offer lunchtime training on a local track. Actually ran during her own lunch with whomever wanted to. It was a huge company.
2 people did the 5K. She got very discouraged. And she ended up quitting.

Yeah, that raw hamburger thing made me
Even if they were flipping the burger, the raw part still touched the bun.

That's true.

My sister works in a daycare center and one of the moms there is part of the family (daughter or granddaughter, I can't remember) who owns it. She also babysits for her on the side.

She said she is a VERY nice lady generous when she babysits for her...LOL

I think they are generally a very nice company to work for. I tried applying for a corporate job (they are located here in Columbus) but the job I applied for was already being interviewed for when I sent my resume in.

Did anyone notice that the boss never talked to the one worker that he sat in a booth with and she said she came to work every day wondering if that was the day she was going to be fired? She was competely missing from the end. DH and I both thought that was odd. Did she actually get fired, I wonder? Or did she get tired of worrying about it, and quit and got another job? It would have been nice to know what happened with her.

I have never had a White Castle burger, so I probably shouldn't judge...but they don't look all that appealing to me. The meat had an off color, and too greasy looking. :crazy2:

I love this show though and I, too, wonder how long it will be on. And I still wish that jerk-of-a-manager at Hooters would have been fired!!!

HMMMM White Castles

When I was a kid (and that was a looooong time ago - LOL) there was a White Castle in our area (my aunt worked for them) and they had the best burgers I have ever tasted in my entire life!!!! Now I wish I could have one..:headache:

There is a White Castle less than five minutes from me and I've never eaten there(lived here about 3 years). It's not like I don't eat junk food, I'm just never there at the right time.:confused3
