OK so my son started middle school - i went ahead and purchased an Under Armour back pack from Dicks sporting goods! It was 50 bucks! after not even 4 weeks of school, its tearing....

I do Not have the receipt anymore - anyone know UnderArmours return/exchange policy?

thanks,,

lisa

My suggestion... take pictures of the rip (make sure to include their logo) and email Under Armour. Something along the lines of "We recently purchased one of your backpacks, and after less than a month, it's getting ripped (see attached picture). We generally like UA products and didn't think we'd have any problem with this backpack. Is there anything that can be done (we no longer have the receipt). Thank you."

You can also try taking the backpack back to Dicks with the same spiel. The worst anyone is going to say is "nope, sorry, can't help you".

Although after going to UA's website and finding the link to returns (http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/popup-returns), it shouldn't even be that difficult.

I saw your post and thought that I had written it!:rotfl2:

My high school daughter purchased an UA backpack...retail of 59.99...I told her if that was how she wanted to spend her hard-earned money, that it was up to her! After less than three weeks of use, the bottom of the backpack had stitching that was coming loose and both straps had rips. We took it back to our local Dick's Sporting Goods, complete with the reciept, where we were told that they would not stand behind the product but rather we needed to follow UA's "limited warranty" policy. This involved us mailing the backpack at our cost back to UA where they would determine whether or not they would replace it. :confused3

I commented to the store manager that I thought this was a bit ridiculous, given the short length of time that my daughter had used the backpack and told her that I no longer had the original tags. She provided me with a tag off another backpack, and indicated that calling the 800 number might be a good place to start. Upon calling the UA number on the backpack product tag, I was directed to another number...which turned out to be for a gentleman's service! The manager at Dick's about died when I put that on speaker phone!

She promptly apologized for my trouble and refunded the full cost of the backpack. Given the opportunity to get another UA or a different brand, my daughter chose another brand and I am happy to say it is holding up wonderfully!

DS just had to have an under armour backpack a couple of years ago. Luckily his made it through one school year, barely.

When I called to check on the lifetime warranty I was told it covered manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship, but our issue was most likely the result of normal wear and tear, so probably would not be covered. I was welcome to send it back, at my expense, so they could evaluate it. They requested I include the receipt since I would need to prove I was the original owner and it that was purchased from an authorized retailer.

I chalked it up to lesson learned and vowed to never buy another UA backpack again. Sorry my experience was not more positive.

Hopefully things will go more smoothly for you.

I would try for a refund at the store regardless of not having a receipt. If that doesn't work, did you happen to use a credit card to buy the bag? I think some credit cards, like American Express, will cover some situations like this.

Otherwise, call Under Armour directly and speak with their customer service.

Once you get the situation taken care of with the backpack and decide it's time to move on from it, I would recommend getting just a basic plain Jansport backpack. When I was in school, the classic Jansport was the "trendy" one to get (thankfully). My Jansport held up through high school AND college, and it's still in completely functioning order 10+ years after I bought it -- plus they are affordable, too.

good idea about looking into the credit card - i will do that!

i charged it on my Discover card - but when i called they said they have not type of ins.

I then called UnderArmour - guess i should have called right away

Very nice customer service - they are emailing me a return label and i need to return it and they will send me out a new backpack - No Charge!

Very surprised. I bought DS a UA backpack from Ross and we are now in our 3rd year and it looks like new. I wash it 2x a year.

Hi I saw your post and had to reply... I have 2 teenage boys who had UA backpacks. They used them for 2years and they began to rip. I called UA. They had me send them back at their expense and issued me 2 gift cards to use at either the outlet or store. I did not have the receipt or tags. I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. I thought their customer service was great!

I'm surprised DSG's didn't do more right off the bat. We had an issue with a month old pair of shoes, the material was wearing off, at the top near where the last lace hole would be (the curve, plastic had worn through and was digging into his leg/ankle/foot. Son had worn them for a month, beginning of the school year, with shorts only, to school only--cleats for practice. It wasn't pants rubbing to make it happen. I went in with the box, the receipt, explained the situation and they gave me full credit plus 20% off a new pair--they did not have that brand/style in stock and could not locate in another store. Bonus was that his feet grew and he was 1/2 size larger.

Bought the youngest an UA backpack last year, didn't even bother with that. We figured that would be wear and tear.

I do love their shoes and socks. Especially the socks. Still soft after a few years of wear.
