They don't do the surprise inspections every program. My first program didn't had any surprise inspections, but we did had one in my second program. I think it depends on how housing is feeling and whether they go through with it or not. And when they do surprise inspections, they don't do all of the apartment complexes. They would randomly select one building in a complex to do the inspection at and that would be the only building. My building was unfortunately picked in my last program. Thankfully, we were a non wellness apartment and was not too messy, so we didn't fail. Just be careful, you will never know if your building will get picked.

oh i see, so messiness is also a factor? what all can i get in trouble for if i get chosen for a surprise inspection?

Messiness is a big factor. They don't like clothes thrown on the floor, full garbage bags (they prefer that you take out the trash almost everyday). They like clean bathrooms, clean kitchens with empty dishwashers (they hate dirty dishes piled up in the sink), vacuumed floors and little clutter. Oh, and this is a big one: they hate things on the wall, they will only allow one bulletin board for each person. We had a few pictures and posters taped on the walls and they told us that it needed to be taken down. Which was not awesome because the apartment looked bare without decorations on the walls.

Really? I didn't know they were that strict about surprise inspections! I thankfully never had one. I wonder if they target wellness apartments more...

Well, it's the same thing as if they were doing a normal inspection except it was a surprise instead of scheduled. Of course, in my second program, whenever they posted up the scheduled inspections, my roommates and I would clean the apartment from top to bottom because we were always aiming for the white glove because we all thought it would be cool to have our pictures on the wall. We never did get the white glove, only a regular pass though. :confused3 Getting a white glove is harder than we thought it would be. They look at everything! I think they just randomly chose a building, no matter how many wellness or non wellness apartments there are in it.

You never know who is going to turn you in, even if they did it with you themselves one time. There are plenty of places for underaged kids to go out. When you are in someone's apartment you are all at risk. You can do it but.. not a good idea really. They could term everyone who is hanging out in the common area if there is substance. You can get away with small gatherings but if one person in the apartment doesn't like it and tells, you all could be in trouble. Also, neighbors can complain or if security is doing walk-bys they could see/hear.

A group of my friends were turned in for mj by someone and that guy is an idiot because he was smoking with the rest of them one time recent to that. They all told security and then he was given the choice either term or take a test. When accused, my friends all got the same choice. Either self term or go take a test to prove your innocence. They left on better grounds than if they were tested and got fired.

My advice is to keep everything to yourself and go off grounds unless you are 100% sure you can trust your roommate and friends. It's hard to really know you're safe so I would just go out. There's fun places to go anyway.

Make friends with full-timers and do not party on CP housing grounds...

I'm over 21 and not a hard partier. I was an RA at my school for three years. This is the best advice to follow. Don't drink and drive yourself home to the apartments, but definitely try to move elsewhere for your partying. That was the advice I gave to my residents. There were apartments near campus where walking was a viable option of transportation (in a group, not by yourself).

i really wouldn't recommend doing anything in the rooms because you're not just putting your job in jeporady, but everyone around you. If you do want to, there are definately clubs, people with apartments not owned by Disney, and stuff like that.

You never know if that one beer (or whatever) is going to be enough to send you home and after applying and all that stuff, I don't see the need to do it.

I had things on almost every wall. They will ask you to take them down, but i never did. This rule is not inforced, you'll just get a note every time to remove the stuff on the walls.
by the way, i used push pins.

I second the above, they told us to take our Christmas lights down, so didn't happen. And we always passed our inspections, they even left us treats, lol.

All the example rooms on the site should conform to their housing rules. One of those 360 degree views has posters and Christmas light and stuff all over it!

I definitely did my fair share of partying at Vista in Fall 09, under 21, and security even showed up at one of the parties. Yes, I got drunk. No, I'm not a gross party girl. I'm just like all the other CPs who have fun. The party where the security showed up was in a 2nd floor apartment, and security had busted they guys before (but they were all over 21). The thing to remember is that you're allowed to be around alcohol if you're underage, you just can't get caught consuming. So PUT YOUR DRINK DOWN immediately if security shows up.

In spite of all the fun parties I did attend, I also left parties sometimes because I just didn't feel like dealing with a possible security run-in. Usually, they'll just make the underage kids leave, but there are people every program that go home for underage drinking. It depends on which guards you get and how they feel that night.

Be smart. Get drunk fast, find someone to take home with you, and leave before security comes is a good strategy. Under-21s still have funnnn!

CPs drink underage.. it happens. Be SMART about it.. don't get hammered and fall on your face in front of security. My suggestion is if you're gonna do it.. do it off property. There are a lot of FT/PT who live in the Orlando area and throw parties.. Wil the Photographer also throws a lot of parties in Orlando - just be smart about it :)

Hey guys, quick question. I'm underage not a huge partier by any means, but from what I hear, it's definitely a prominent thing in the CP. So I was wondering if I would feel super left out if I weren't willing to go to parties or are there just as many people who aren't into the party scene either?

drinking is a prominent thing in college. get a group of college kids together with alcohol sold in near proximity, and they will drink. If it is on the CP or on Mars. doesn't matter.

people in college do what people in college do.

if that isn't your thing, you'll find others that are like that too just like on any campus.

No, you are not alone! I'm one of the people who don't like to party as well. I prefer small theme-like parties and movie nights. If you don't like heavy partying, stay away from the Commons (where the craziest parties happen) and Vista Way (a lot of parties and where most of the underage drinking happens). In both my programs, I'd stayed at Chatham and Patterson and I had never came across a huge party in either complex. Yes, there might be one or two, but you have to be close to the apartment to actually noticed it. I'd never went to a party and tended to go out with my friends or stay at the apartment and watch movies with my roomies.
