My son, 22, was going to have to use Rent-A-Wreck a few months ago if he really wanted a car (he decided not to rent). I don't remember the cost but they didn't say anything about extra surcharges. One drawback was that they are not located at the airport. Good luck in your search.

we were in Hawaii 2 years ago on a family trip and the car rental was part of the package--

my DS and DGF/DW (she was his girlfriend when we left and his wife when we returned :goodvibes )

since my DS was only 22 he could still get the car since Pleasnet Holidays had a contract with National that people could rent at 18 with surcharge

My DS is a police Officer and I even asked them because of his career if the surcharge could be waived (I thought it wouldnt hurt of ask :confused3 )

they said if he was there on duty he wouldnt have to pay!!!

I've called just about every rental agency in greater Orlando and unless you have a special coporate contract that terms have already been negotiated, you really can't get out of the underage fee.

If you happen to be in a fraternity, i've found that some fraternity's have contracts with certain agency's to not only get a discounted rate, but to waive the underage fee as well.

Otherwise, sorry, you're in the same position as I.

My DGF and I were going to possibly hit Universal for a day as well as drive out to Cypress Gardens for a day when we go for 10 days in Feb., but tacking on another $50+ in fee's just isn't in the budget for us I don't think. :(

Is there something you need to tell them to have the underage fee waived?

I've called Enterprise as well as checked on the web and both sources say they have a fee.

Just for kicks and grins, here is an online quote I just filled out at enterprise.com;

Enterprise will rent without the fee on an Insurance vehicle replacement. I don't think it's there normal policy.

Dh and I rented from Payless Car rental a few years ago. This is what their website has for underage drivers. Cheaper than I have seen it anywhere else.

Renter must be 25 years of age with a valid photo driver's license and major credit card in his/her own name.
Ages 21-24 13.95 per day surcharge. Must be 25 years of age or older to rent convertibles, luxury, four wheel drives, pick up trucks and vans.
