Under the Boardwalk.....

Hey all! Can anyone give me any info for the Boardwalk. We've never been there and have a free day that I want to explore something other than the parks. We'll be with DS who is 11 and my niece 10. Would they enjoy it? Thanks for the help!

I have stayed at the boardwalk and most of the activities are at night time.

If you are looking to fill a whole day I think you might be better off planning to spend it somewhere else. Don't get me wrong - we love BW - have stayed there several times - but it is pretty "dead" there during the day. There is not much to do - there is the BW gift shop, bakery, candy shop and several restaurants - but that is about it. The activities are either rent a Surrey bike or play one of 2 traditional boardwalk games (shoot hoops - win prize). I am not even sure if the games are open during the day - I am leaning toward no... it's really deserted. At night there are live entertainers added to the mix when things start to buzz after dinner.

IMO it is not enough to keep a 10 & 11 year old occupied for the day. Perhaps you could do something like this:
You could plan a morning at Fantasia Mini Golf (located not too far from BW - you could walk if you wanted to) then head over to BW for lunch. After that stroll across the lake to Beach Club for Ice Cream at Beaches and Cream (a 50's style ice cream polar). From there if you wish you can pop into Epcot just over the Bridge at International Gateway - you'll suddenly find yourself in the United Kingdom in the Heart of World showcase.
