Am I the only person that didn't know you could add an under 3 child on the dining plan as a DVC'er without having to purchase them a park ticket? I sure wish I knew that last November but will definitely be taking advantage from here on out. Hope someone else can benefit from this information too.

DVC Members are not required to purchase park tickets at any age to qualify for the DDP.

As for adding an under 3 and paying the child price, it's been hit or miss going by posts on the board. Some have been allowed to do so, some have not. As noted, there has never been a requirement for tickets using the DDP staying on points.

I just tried to add my ds who will be 2 to the ddp and was told that I could not add him since he was an infant. I wanted to add him bc he has allergies and some of the TS billed us meals for him last Aug. Some of the meals were almost $10. I thought - geee at that amount I could just put him on the plan. Maybe I will keep trying to add him to the plan. He can and will eat more than my 6 yr old.

Call back and try again. You'll eventually get someone who says OK. IF you get a meal specifically for him, they will and should charge you. You could order an appropriate meal and share with him. The child under 3 eating free is only at buffet's and off your plate.

I just told them that she was 3 (even though she's won't be 2 until the end of May). Same deal as you, she has food issues and needs her own latose intolerant food. No sharing for us. I didn't think twice because even though in a couple of years they'll have the wrong age, I'll just correct it then. A couple of years ago they had my grandson who was 10 listed as 17. He thought that was cool, but I corrected it.

I tried to add DS who is 2 to our dining plan last week, because he already eats like a teenage boy. But I was told no. Maybe I will try again.

We did it twice...Our DS was under 3 two times while using DVC points...We were able to buy him the plan without a problem...Call your guide if you are having trouble with adding a child under 3.

I made DH call again. I guess 3rd time is the charm. The person at Member Services said, "Yeah, no problem" when DH asked if you could add a 2 year old to dining plan. I guess its all in who answers the call.

Thanks everyone!

chipper10-- soo good to hear you were able to add your 2 yr old to the ddp. I did try again this afternoon and was told that I could not add him to the plan. I guess I will try again a few more times. If I can't add him than I will be fine w/ paying for his meals due to his allergies. but I would rather get the ddp if I could. Guess I will call a few more times.

It also depends on what room ype you are staying. We are staying in a studio. It will be me, DW, DD7, friend3, and DS2. You have to make 2 year old 3 to get DP so for us to do that we would not be able to stay in Studio we would have to jump up to 1br.

If the number of people does not matter to catagory then all you have to do is call and say the child is "3". They are not going to ask for ID.

We have a 1bdrm at AKV - Kinadi village. I guess that is why we can't?? We can not say he is 3 otherwise we would have to move to a 2bdrm. We have 2 adults and a total of 4 children. This is the only year we can get the 1bdrm. I will try again but that might be why. I don't want to give up AKV since it is just opening. thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like that is the reason. By your 2 yo being 3, it would push you over the capacity of your 1 bedroom. We don't exceed our capacity by making the 2 yo 3. She is in a room with mom, dad, and 4yo sister, making them a party of 4.

thanks - I didn't even think of that. We are generally an OKW 2brm family. We were able to do a 1bdrm since ds is still under 3. It is no big problem, I would rather have the AKV 1bdrm this year. We will just pay OOP for him. Thanks for the insight.

I don't think they changed my DS's age in the computer. DH came right out and asked if you can add a 2 yr old to the DDP and the lady at member Services said, "Sure, no problem."

We are staying at a studio, but it is only the 3 of us.

I would try again. Good luck!

Believe me I went up through a few people and everyone told me that you have to be 3. It is just their policy. If you got it through with still being 2 years old then who did you talk to we all want to know.

We did it twice without a problem...The first time we went the CM offered it to me without me asking...I said no the first time because the baby was not eating much then...The past two times we added him when we added the dining plan to the reservation...This went without question...The first time the CM told me that we could add him because as DVC we do not have the "package rules" about park tickets and such...Again, call your guide if you are having trouble...It is not their policy as far as our experience goes.

Thank you I will have to do that next time.
