I know this has been asked but google has defeated me. Friends are travelling end of month, with daughter, looking to cross and fly from BUF. What doc does the daughter require, she is 5 years.

Proof of Canadian residency and citizenship is required for all travellers crossing the border between Canada and the United States. Doesn't matter the age.

A birth certificate will do the job. Never had an issue with our DS.

This is from the Canada Border Services website.

Documents for travel to the United States

Land ports of entry

As of January 31, 2008, Canadian citizens travelling by land to the United States must present one of the following:
  • a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s licence, PLUS a birth certificate or citizenship card; or
  • a valid passport; or
  • a NEXUS or a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card; or
  • an enhanced driver’s licence; or
  • a Certificate of Indian Status (CIS) card; or
  • for those aged 18 and under only proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, is required.

Thanks, I will pass this on to my Dfriend.
