OK so I thought we'd finally decided on Inventions Saturday night and the Steakhouse brunch on Sunday as our 2 special character meals this visit - and now I'm :confused3 again.
The reviews I've read on other sites aren't very favourable on the whole for Inventions either, this is such a shame, but I don't think I'm prepared to spend that much money and have the same disappointment as some of you have experienced especailly when we've had some fabulous character meals at other cheaper restaurants. :sad2:

Hi Jill

We ate at Inventions last May - we found the service to be lacking - our server was not exactly surly but arther glum and unresponsive - not what we were expecting in the Disneyland hotel. I was OK with the buffet but DD and DH found it to be lacking in the things they liked. The characters were OK but we did find them more animated at other restaurants.

We have also eaten at Walts, Auberge, Lucky Nugget,Blue Lagoon - Inventions was the most expensive and most disappointing - probably would never go back. Someone else though might have a great experience - we have found this with WDW restaurants - this time we will try some of the ones we haven't tried before, some of these will have less than perfect reviews - we have avoided ones before which have had a few negative comments and found them to be great. Now I have the motto that I will try anything once.

Im with you Jill, we go on the 26th of November and i was really keen to try inventions but the recent reviews have made me think twice.

I think im going to stick with cafe mickey and we may also try the lucky nugget.

We went to Inventions last month and TBH were really disappointed. We saved it for the last night, expecting it to be really special.

DH and I enjoyed the food but DS and DD weren't happy.

The service was poor and the character interaction was rushed.

We assumed it was because of where we were sat(right near to the buffet, which was manic)

Saying that, the first time we went to Annette's, I thought it was awful and without atmosphere(because of where we were sat), DH dragged me back and it was a totally different experience.
So, maybe Inventions were having a bad night:confused3

I have to say Cafe Mickey is still my favourite for the charcter interaction.

Now I have the motto that I will try anything once.

I think this is a great motto and one we also try to follow. :thumbsup2

We've eaten at Inventions twice, although not recently. The first time everything was wonderful :cloud9:
The second time our server was useless and got our bill totally wrong which luckily we noticed. However, the food was wonderful and the character interaction was out of this world ~ youngest DD was kidnapped by Donald Duck who took her outside the restaurant right up to Cafe Fantasia :rotfl: and Chip and Dale took more than a liking to DH ;) because he had plush keyrings of them on his bag. This more than made up for the lousy server, however if the character interaction hadn't been very good we would probably have a completely different view of the evening.

I would say to book it ~ we always book for 6pm when it is still quiet ~ and then at least you will have tried it.

I will feel awful if you don't have a good time, though!! :guilty:

Oh most definately, if I'd listened to reviews, I probably would never have booked the NPB, as it was we had the most fabulous stay there and I was left wondering if I'd actually stayed at the same hotel as these other people.

I'm waiting for DLRP to release the Christmas programme, I do have to plan my meals around it, I would rather not eat than miss something, but Inventions around 6.00pm on Saturday would be the aim. I will let you know what I decide, I appreciate all the input, guys and I certainly wouldn't hold it against any of you if we have the most awful experience, which I vey much doubt

That's why I never pay too much attention to reviews on the internet. There are always some people who only try to find bad things. And if you want to find them then you will find them.
But on the other side there are also people who see eerything through rose-colored glasses. And for them everything is perfect.

I had the same experience with the Plaza Gardens. We ate there 2 times and we always had a bad experienece. Although many reviewers loved it.
But then we gave them a third change and on this visit everything was perfect.

I would also say: Try the Inventions. When we visited it in September 2004 it was and still is the best dinner experience we had at the resort. (But many things could have changed since then) :hippie:

Hiya

We were staying at the hotel and enjoyed lovely breakfasts at this restaurant. We went on out last night and it was 150 euro for 2 adults and 2 children with 2 soft drinks and a bottle of wine.

On arrival there was a queue and it took 15 mins to be seated. It was far from refined and was more like a 3 star hotel in majorca as far as the buffet was concerned(with loads of prawns for flair) The chablis had sold out! The characters were very poor although the visted each table it was very quick and disappointing and no better than elsewhere, if fact worse.

This and plaza gardens were just so poor in comparison to the other meals we had in resort.

There was just no atmosphere, it wasn't that the place was too reserved its just dull and really mediocre. Spend your pennies elsewhere.

Now that just would not be fair :grouphug:
Bad experiences can happen for a whole variety of reasons.

As is shown from the thread some have had good experiences others have not thought it was very good value for money and therefore suggest giving it a miss.

Regardless of the experience; even when not so good, the fact it is only a part of the whole Disneyland Paris experience. This means there are plenty of oportunities for DLP to make amends :goodvibes
