Undecided! Kona Cafe or Captains Grille

Family and I will be down in May. Have most of our ADRs planned but still undecided if I should go with Capatains Grille or Kona Cafe. We have the ADR for Captains Grille but we havent eaten there nor have I seen any reviews on it. Can anyone help. In addition, I havent eaten at Kona but did see great pics and reviews on the boards! So, still undecided

First let me say that we LOVE the Kona Cafe.

Let me also advise you that the Poly is in the MK area while the Yacht Club is in the Epcot resort area. They are nowhere near each other. Don't make the newbie mistake we made on our first family trip many years ago. We did not realize the size of WDW and made reservations all over the place.

Figure out where you will be around the time you will be eating and then you can make a logical choice. If you will be in either Epcot or the Studios the Yacht Club is a walk or boat ride away. If you will be in the MK area the Poly is just a monorail ride away.

My wife had dinner a few years ago with at friend at the (then) Yacht Club Galley and loved the meal. You probably won't go wrong with either choice. Check out the menus on this site or allearsnet.com

Thank you all for the replies today. I've done WDW numerous times however I just wanted a change from the same restaurants. I guess I'll try to get Kona. If not I still have my Captain's grille ADR. Thank you all again!

Kona! We ate there last Julyr for first time, so we went back in Nov. for both breakfast & dinner. Both were great!! It will be a must for every trip from now on.

Captain's Grille. We like the food, it's quiet, and we always really very good service. It's one of Disney's hidden gems.

From the sound of it, it seems like a significant amount of people who replied haven't even been to Captain's Grille/Yacht Club Galley.

Both are very very good and I personally have never had bad service at either, the food is also very good at both. We're coffee people so we always make our way to Kona for breakfast but I think CG has a better lunch...

I don't know what to tell you I guess, lol. The only advice I could tell you is to look at the menus for both for whatever meal you're looking to go to be it, breakfast, lunch or dinner and decide on that. You won't be disappointed on either restaurant.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting the ADR for Kona Cafe. I called today and made an ADR for Kona on May 4th and they had numerous openings. Good luck!

Thank you all again. I was torn between the two. I wanted to try someplace new and with your help I decided with Kona. I saw that the DIS recommends both but DW and I liked the menu better at Kona. This is how our ADR's look for our short stay: Sun May 18 1900 Park Fare

Too bad you didn't choose Captain's Grille - my DD works there - and she's AWESOME.
