So DH and I are going down for my birthday... just the two of us no kids yet. I had read a little about MNSSHP and decided it wouldn't be our thing. Now I am reading more and starting to wonder. I am a Halloween nut.. it's always been one of my favorite holidays! I think I found an excuse to go trick or treating well into my teens!!

So what do you think - would we enjoy it without kids in tow? We probably wouldn't dress up or anything..

I can't imagine what a party like this would be like... part of me would love all the kids in costume running around, part of me things it's too early for Halloween, part of me thinks I should keep the trip "Disney" and not Halloween... Don't worry, all of me knows I am stressing way too much over something silly!! :rotfl:

We're only going for 3 days, I was planning on a "relax" day on Friday, Magic Kingdom on Sat, and AK/Epcot on Sunday... maybe I should just keep it at that and quit stressing. Saturday is my birthday, so I was going to spend the day "where the magic is"... (No MNSSHP that night)

I know you're all reading this saying :earseek: "This lady needs to get a grip!"

So.... what would you do? :earboy2: What do you like about the party, what could you do without?

My dh and I went to MNSSHP in Oct. of 2003 when we celebrated our 35 wedding anniversery.
We had a wonderful time. I did wear a halloween shirt but dh just wore his
a golfing shirt. We did not feel out of place at all and we had lots fun. If you enjoy halloween you will love the decorations and the parades. The special fireworks are awsome. You get to see lots of children in costume.Plus that's 5 extra hours in the MK with most of the rides open. The lines are usually quite short since there is a limit on the # of tickets they sell.
I would say go.
We are returning this year with dd,dsil and our grandson age 3. It will be his first trip to Disney and his first MNSSHP.
Have fun at Disney!

Hi:)
I really think you might enjoy yourself, My mom and I do she is 60 and im 29 and we have been going to mnsshp since 2001.
I love the trick or treating part, so much that we hit all the spots dozens of times, its perfectly fine to do so .
I didnt have much fun trick or treating when I turned 10 a lady was really mean saying I was too old and she wouldnt give me candy, Kinda ruined halloween for me.
This party totally makes up for it I love halloween again.
I still have all my candy from the 4 partys we went to last year(I know its got to go, I just cant part with it:)
On halloween night we got such much candy I could hardly carry it. The other nights you dont get as much but its still as much fun.
My most favorite thing though is the headless horseman its awesome we never miss him, my favorite spot is by the storyteller in liberty square by those chop your head off things:)
There can be lines for the rides but you can usually do quite a bit in between getting candy and watching the parade.
And this year with the new fireworks Id hate to miss it.
I hope you decide to go.

My family went to disney and MNSSHP for the first time last year, and we are going back for it this year also (with FREE Dining! :cool1: ). We had THE BEST TIME! :earsboy: The parade is so cool! :cool1: I would go without kids and have a blast too. Especially if you are a "halloween person"! :cheer2: The rides are so less crowded and just the feeling you get walking around MK with the sights and sounds, it really gets you in the spirit of things. Hope you have a great trip, no matter what! :wizard:

If you love Halloween like I do...then your only chance to see Halloween decorations will be at the party. When we were there, werent any halloween decorations up in the parks at all!! I was disappointed!! The party was fun. It was REALLY HOT when were there too!! My DS was 2, and it was too hot for his tigger costume that was made out of sweatshirt material. We all bought halloween shirts from Target, and wore them everyday to the parks. That was fun. At the party, its fun to walk around and look at the decorations. The characters are all dressed up in costumes too, and that was great! The kids liked that. Cinderella's coach sits behind the castle in a pumpkin patch. The windows on main street have jackolanterns in them, they project a flying Mickey bat on the buildings.. it was fun. Hot, but fun. I think you will enjoy it!!

So what do you think - would we enjoy it without kids in tow?

Absolutely! My DH and I love it and we are in our 30's sans children. If anything take in the atmosphere and the activities.

It is a "must do" for us. :goodvibes

I think three days is a very short trip. Doing the party will allow you to do alot at MK besides the party events. This should open up more time for other parks on the other days.

In addition, it's a special event which is always a blast at Disney.

I think the night experience there is really out of sight. The later the night the less kids there will be and it can get somewhat romantic.

I say go. If you decide to go and are going during the week, go then. Less crowded from what I have read. This will be me and DW's first time in October. We are going during the time of my bday. Last week we bought tickets for a 2nd night....Our 2nd night will be our last night there. What better way then being at MK until midnight. We did this in Dec of 2004 for the MVMCP and we did 2 nights then. Go and enjoy.

We absolutely love MNSSHP as you can see from our signature! It gives a whole new feel to the HM ride. Also you may enjoy the ride on the paddle wheeler and hearing the scary stories. The fireworks are different and very cool too! I just enjoy the decorations and such as well as seeing the many creative costumes people make and wear. If you are a Halloween fan, I say give it a try!

I am another "do it!" vote. :) For the same reasons as above... the party itself sounds so fun and festive... and on top of that you will be able to fit in some extra park time at MK.

I say go too! Enjoy the time you have now before you have kids.... we went to disney lots before we had out little princess.. we had a blast then.. and now its even more fun!!!!!!!!!! Don't miss it!

I am like you - Halloween is my favorite "holiday". That being said, I don't think I would go if it weren't for my 8 year old daughter. The last time we went it was SO crowded you could barely walk around - and forget short lines! It was just plain horrible. Granted, it was on Halloween. I'm going to give it another try this year, on a Sunday night to see if it's any better. My mother thought the last experience was so bad that she's opting to stay back at the resort.

The costumes are fun to watch tho. And my daughter enjoyed the dance party over in tomorrowland.

I'm thinking the same thing... We have dinner Ressies for Cindy's Table at 5:55, park closes at 6... we will be "Asked to leave" ugh!
So is the MNSSHP a good event for adults?
I know my 8yo would love it if we brought him home a goodie bag !

I am trying to decide the same thing. It would just be me and my DH. He is leaning towards no but said if I really want to fine. I am the same as you in the fact that I love Halloween! So to me something that mixes Halloween and Disney two of my favorite things should be a no brainer. I think we are going to try and go on September 30th. When are you going to be there? Also we are going to Disney for my birthday too! Your post looks like I could have written it!

It's FUN! Here are my favorite things:

the decorations (like pumpkins in windows and the lights)

the parade (all your favorite villians, a troupe of haunted mansion dancers, etc!)

the horseman (nothing starts a parade better than a romp through the park by the headless horseman, on a fantastic quarter horse!)

the fireworks (I fell in love with these special fireworks, from the haunted music and villians piped in, to the periphial "around the park" surrounding you fireworks! all I can say is wow) If you've never seen these before, keep in mind they actually shut down the monorails for a moment to perform this show. Its incredible when you're in the park and they go off all around you.

the music (its just neat to walk around and hear creepy music, like the haunted mansion piped all over the park!)

All in all, its a delight for the senses. If you love halloween, you won't want to miss it. Decide what YOU want to do most. Maybe dinner, the parade and fireworks? Don't forget to take your complimentary free picture. You won't feel out of place without a costume. Its a lot of fun. If anyone has any questions just PM me :earboy2:

do they have MNSSHP exclusive merchandise to buy for people that are only at the party?

Would doing the party be less crowded on a thursday or friday or does it not matter?
thanks a bunch!!

I was there for the first time last Halloween night -- my teenage son and his friend took off by themselves and I had a wonderful time wandering around alone.

The transformation of Main Street and the Castle is unbelievable. WDW does a fantastic job with MNSS... you should go! :sunny:

My DH and I were not sure either. We kept talking about it but we really thought it might not be for 2 adults and no kids. But this week we decided to go I ordered the tickets on Tuesday we're going on Oct 6 I'll probably were a halloween t-shirt my DH wont. We went to MVMCP last year and had fun so why not. We're now looking forward to it

If you love Halloween, you should definitely go to this. We went when our kids were only 2 and 1, and we had a great time as adults. The Halloween theming is great, and so is the parade. I also like shorter lines on rides.

My DH and I went to the MNSSHP and we had a blast! We were both late 40s at the time and were alone. The most amazing thing to us both was the transformation of the park! In just the two hours it was closed it changed from the usual lovely MK to an entirely Halloween decorated park. We couldn't believe it! We are not even that much into Hallloween though and we loved watching the kids and adults in costume, the parade was incredible and I understand now the Halloween fireworks are something you don't want to miss. We are going back this year and timed our visit (9/27 through 10/2) to coincide with MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. It is great, too!

Most of all, though, I would say that 3 days doesn't give you much time. I like to take two days just for Epcot - though a half day for AK probably works. So I would definitely encourage you to enjoy MNSSHP.
