We all know about the usual tips we give at DCL: servers, SR hosts, bars, cove cafe, servers around pools.
I always tip the standard and I supplement depending on how good they were.

But what are tips you've given to CM's at 'unusual places'?
Me? I've given tips to CM's that have been real nice to my DD when she went to kids clubs ( a few of times.. $20 or $50 in cash)
And to one club host in particular (Jo, she always made our cruising experience memorable when we sailed with her)

I once heard a table mate say he gave a nice tip to a cruse director (whaaat???)

I'm curious to read what others have done.

ETA: I also ask because at our recent WBPC there was this lifeguard (a girl from Serbia, can't remember her name) that was super nice and kept things really well organized when it came to time limits at the hot tubs around the family pool. - I wanted to tip her but thought that maybe it was inappropriate.

Just be aware that some non-tipped positions may not be allowed to keep a monetary tip even if you insist. The Youth Activities CMs must report and pool any tips they receive for the group to use, so your $20 or $50 isn't actually going to the individual you intended.

I wouldn't post who exactly you (general you) gave a tip to in case they were not supposed to accept one.

Last week on the Magic I did see a guy give his server a cash tip on the second night. Don't know if he gave him one every night, didn't know the usual protocol of handing out tips on the last night, or just wanted to give him extra.

He might have been giving cash tips for drinks instead of adding them to the receipt.

We tipped one of the pool area supervisors who talked to us about every day and provided information on activities. We also tipped one of the janitorial staff who helped find my wallet I dropped.

We asked about tipping a specific adult pool steward (for lack of a better term) and we were told it was ok to give him cash by guest services.

We tipped the attendant on deck 13 on the Dream and the fantasy on recent cruises. They worked so hard keeping the loungers turned over and looking pristine.

We were also on that amazing WBPC cruise. :cloud9:
We tipped the 2 people who were always at the deck 9 drink station. I won't mention names but despite the fact she was 'earning her ears' she had a great personality and a contagious smile. He learned everyone's name within the first few days of the cruise. It was truly amazing. As we'd pass by and wave he'd say, "Hi P____! Hi J____!" While hanging out there chatting with him a few times, he'd say hi to everyone passing by us, calling each one by name.
I'm not good with remembering names so this was super impressive to me. IIRC we gave them each $20 just for making it extra fun to stop at the drink station. :goodvibes

How nice of you.
There was also this younger guy at coffee station on deck 9 that was super nice and he learned my name by the second day... he was so full of energy, with a huge smile on his face, singing, just plain happy.. if you went for a coffee in the mornings you'll know who I'm talking about. didn't tip him in $ but rather brought him some snacks from the Mega in Cozumel... his energy was so contagious.
There's so many incredible CM's on DCL.
Also, I miss that WBPC so much it hurts.

Yes, I believe this is the same person. The crew was fantastic overall on this cruise but he really stood out in our minds. We mentioned him on the survey. Our stateroom hostess was the best we ever had. When we went to guest services to have the tips increased for her and our servers, we noticed the family next to us at the counter was doing the same thing. :goodvibes

Once we had a server in training on the Wonder in addition to our regular servers. While our actual server and assistant server were fine, the trainee was fantastic. He was so friendly and was working his tail off. We actually saw very little of our actual server, it was mostly the trainee. This was a long time ago, before the automated tipping where you got the envelopes in your stateroom and just gave them cash. At the end of the cruise we did not receive an envelope for the trainee. We felt that was wrong and just tipped him anyway. It was the right thing to do as he'd done most of the work!
