I know someone mentioned this recently but can't find the post. Everyone should go to www.missingmoney.com and see if your state is linked - you can check if you have any unclaimed funds by entering your name. If your state is NOT linked check out your state's website and look at the "Unclaimed Property" section and hopefully you can search.
I work for a law firm and had to use this site recently, and for laughs I typed in my own name after looking up the info for our client. To my surprise it showed that there was something in my name in the state where we used to live. I printed out the form and sent it in less than 3 weeks ago, not knowing how much was involved (I figured $50 would be a nice surprise!) I got the check today and it was over $500!
This just when I was worried about getting through to DH's next paycheck since we had some stuff come up.
So...ya never know! I also found two friends' names and am making them aware of it. (One of them shows up several times!)

She would like that I bet!
Thanks for the info!
Just sent my claim form. I can't wait to see what it is.

I was really nervous about sending an identity theft starter kit to a state worker (and I am one!) so I didn't do it. I know they need to establish identity, but it seems like there could be a way with less personal risk.
