uncertainty with Grand Californian reopen date

We currently have reservation for Grand Californian for early August... booked using points. If we keep the reservation but then the resort doesn't open, will the points just be returned to the original use year or will it be put in the holding account? Trying to figure out if I should cancel before the 31 day cut off to be safe...

All of the Disneyland Hotels have been cancelling July reservations, but I haven't seen anyone with an August reservation say they've been cancelled yet, either at the hotels or VGC. I think the regular hotels will get cancelled first (I had a VGC reservation in mid-July as well as a DLH reservation, they contacted me about the DLH one a week before the VGC ressie disappeared).
The Disneyland Reopening thread official, as well as the speculation thread are probably better bets for keeping an eye on when the VGC will be rescheduled to open.
