Unblocking Pop-Ups

I just jumped through several hoops in order to allow pop-ups with Internet Explorer. I had pop-ups enabled for the browser through the Tools menu yet they were still being blocked.

It turns out, each of the toolbars I have installed, (AOL, Google and Yahoo) has its own pop-up blocker which has to be changed to enable pop-ups. Sometimes you enable the pop-ups through the toolbar's options, other times you enable the pop-ups through the toolbar's pop-up blocker. This was a major ordeal for me. I hope this helps some of you enable the various VMK and VMK-related games.

I discovered and fixed the problem while playing Neopets so I don't know if it fixes any of the VMK problems people are experiencing.

Also if you use a security suite / firewall / antivirus / antispyware program they could also be blocking popups. Norton Internet Security definitely does.

That's good to know in case I run into trouble again. All I wanted to do was enable pop-ups for the Neopets site. Who knew it would be such an ordeal?

Oh yes! And thanks for mentioning Norton, Bob. Some day, when you have time, could you show me how to change the day and time they want to scan me :rotfl2:

Now it is Friday night at 8:00. So very inconvenient.

These are just some of the things I have done to try to get the Yeti game to work-- and it still doesn't.

Turned off pop-up blocker on: Mozilla, IE, comcast toolbar; and Windows software.

Added disney games to: Mozilla, IE broswers;antivirus; antispyware

updated software: Mozilla, IE, Windows software, video card, shockwave, including using shockwave version from main disney site.

Added disney games sites to: windows xp firewall, second extra firewall we bought

I don't know what else to do, everytime someone says "Hey I just changed "this" on my computer and now I can play, I go do it too.

yes please I so hate it being Friday at 8 ....I thought you used to change it fairly easily but with this new version I can not see mto find it either, Sea.

This isn't about the pop-ups, but you might not want so many tool bars at all. I had a bunch of them before, and they totally messed up my computer. One day I decided to uninstall them, and I'm like, "Holy Cow! My computer is going so fast!!!" @_@

Good idea! I'm working on taking care of that. I'm not sure I need any of the toolbars. I'll probably get rid of all of them. The only time I have used them was to unblock pop-ups. :rotfl2:

To change your scanning schedule -

1. Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks

2. Double click Norton AntiVirus - Scan My Computer

3. Click on tab "Schedule"

4. Select the type of task you want from the "Schedule Task" drop down (I run weekly, but your choice...)

5. Then you can set the following from the various fields on that same screen:
- Start Time
- Day of week
- How often it will run ("every _ weeks)

6. Click ok

This is for Window XP, however most other versions of Windows are very similar.

Note: If your computer is turned off during scheduled scan, it will run the next time computer turns on.

Hope this helps.

Q - My TRUE advice, get rid of all of them, but if you really are in love with one, keep only that one.

So many toolbars will just complicate anything that you are actually trying to simplify.

As for pop-up blockers, I have the Windows pop-up blockers on and I am able to play all vmk-related games, including Everest. I block out everything I can - pop up go away, far far away!

I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of having to answer yes when signing..........where it talks about it being sercure site.....anyone know how to get rid of that pop up.

Don't know if this can be of any help, but if you hold down ctrl while clicking any link it should usually bypass all your pop-up blockers.
