Unbelievably rude woman (not cast member) at LTT

I was in the lobby at LTT on Sunday night and was stunned by the audacity of a late-arriving party. The woman came through the closed doors at 10:15pm or so and demanded a table for her 8:50 reservation. The cast member told her the restaurant was closed (since 9:30) and that the kitchen was closed. Irate, she demanded the manager, who explained the same thing. The poor manager took verbal abuse and was told she would be reported by this guest to whoever would listen (Guest relations I assume?)

I know I expect great things at Disney, but this is outrageous. Would anyone bang on the door at Outback Steakhouse an hour after they closed and demand service or else? Unbelievable!!!

I would expect that if she follows thru on her complaint threat, no one will listen. Nor should they.
10:15 is just a tad late for an 8:50 ADR.

It's unbelievable what some people do!!! When I see people do that, it puts a damper on my vacation!!! I can't stand to see people being rude to other guests or CM's. It ruins other people good mood and kinda ruins the day also!!!

People like that are just trying to get something for nothing. I hope Guest Relations tells them to take a flying leap.

:sad2: What else can I say.. some people are just to unbelievable! Was she drunk?? or maybe her watch broke at 7:30 and maybe she thought she was early! LOL. Unbelievable.

Yes, people DO bang on doors at Outback, McD (back when they weren't 24 hours), etc etc. I have, at one point, been leaving a place 2 hours after we closed (10pm close, 12was when I was leaving) and had someone demand that I go back in, turn on the oven, and make a pizza because the customer is always right.:thumbsup2

The manager should've offered to call his/her manager at home.

Sounds like a miserable person. Deservedly so.

Hey! Wait a minute!

If the kitchen was closed, who was gonna bring you your next helping of flank steak?:rotfl:

eta: YES, IN THE LOBBY! ;)

Oddly enough we witnessed quite a bit of rude behavior from visitors in the lobby of LTT while we were waiting to be seated during our last visit. We too saw people having fits because there was no seating available (on our way in ) or because the kitchen was closed (on our way out).

We also saw a a woman and her two kids walk by and do a doubletake when they saw Goofy. The woman quickly pushed her way inside (and I do mean pushed other people out of the way) and then told her kids to "Run to Goofy quick!" The hostess grabbed them and explained politely but firmly that seeing the characters at LTT required dining at LTT; she then went on to say that there were no more seatings available that night. She was nice, but firm with the customer. The woman got very angry with the poor hostess and then suddenly forgot how to speak English. Yeah, right. The hostess finally ushered them to the door. The minute the hostess turned around, the woman once again pushed her kids toward the dining room saying -- in English, mind you -- "Hurry before the lady sees you!" The hostess did see them and once again ushered them out. The woman and her kids then stood in the doorway for more than 15 minutes staring at those dining nearest the door and giving them dirty looks and making periodic guerilla attacks, thwarted by the poor CM. (I don't know why she didn't call security.)

And finally, a family group had 8 kids under the age of 5 seated at one large table who were all shrieking during the entire meal. Yes, I know there are kids at WDW, but this went waaaay beyond the norm or beyond what other diners should be expected to absorb. And of course, the parents were oblivious to it all. Even my dd was complaining about the noise level. Quite honestly, I couldn't even hear my dh seated next to me because of the noise level -- which went on for over 45 minutes. The kids were also running around and throwing food. One couple even got up and left because it was their anniversary and they felt the night was ruined. Another family was saying how they would all need Tylenol for dessert after they left. I know kids can/do make noise but these kids were completely out of control. I don't know that the CMs can do anything, but truly it seems to me that if one party is ruining the dining for everyone else, that there should be a way to handle it.

I don't know if LTT attracts these problem people or if it was just a bad night. My dd commented that the wait staff and hostess looked exhausted and frustrated there -- something we've never seen at any other WDW restaurant to that extent.

. . . People like that are just trying to get something for nothing . . .

1) Yep.
2) Lot of folks looking for "something for nothing".
3) How many posts do you see people
. . . asking how to get a free room upgrade?
. . . asking how much food they can bring into the parks?
. . . asking if they can bring in big coolers with wheels?
. . . asking how to get extra Fast Passes?
. . . asking if they can use a $2 extra day instead of buying Park Hopping option?

It's amaizing what people think they can try get these days when they are the ones who were at fault because they missed their ADR and when they could not be seated since the restaurant was not taking any walk-ins. :sad2:

We also saw a woman with similar ideas to the lady in Camicar's story. They just banged on the side door at LTT until somebody let them in and started going around getting autographs. All of us eating sort of looked shocked and Minnie tried to explain in sign language she couldn't sign autographs for non diners. Finally a cm who wasn't a character came in and got them out of there while the mom yelled and griped. What really gets me about these instances is the poor kids who have such dumb parents. How awful to have your mom make a fuss while she breaks the rules and humiliates you. And how sad they will grow up with that for a role model.

People like this just get me. It is absolutely terrible that someone would do such horrible things, even while they are on vacation.

Isn't there a Disney policy in place for late ADR arrivals? Disney has SO many policies, surely they have one for situations like that!!

How Rude!!!:sad2:

You just have to wonder what people are thinking :confused3

I run a business that works by appointment and it always surprises me when people show up late expecting full service- especially after having a confirmation call requesting they arrive 15 min early :headache:

True, true.

But, the exception here is that people are asking how to get these things here, on these forums, to gain an understanding (and maybe a lil' something extra) for themselves and family.

In the parks, the people described in this thread are forcibly demanding to get something for nothing, even at the cost of other people's magic.

I don't find the questions you mentioned in #3 to be rude or offensive (repeticious, yes). But the behavior of the few people in the parks and restaurants demanding things that are just plain unreasonable - and doing so in plain view of children - is disgusting.

Just my 2 cents.

Probably just mad at herself for missing the ADR, or getting flack from her family for missing the ADR - but still not appropriate to take it out on the manager of LTT.

Does anyone else ever wonder if the CMs hate us, because of jerks like this?
