Unbelievable....

Here in Québec , the TV commercials for the lotterie used to be all kind of people seen winning , going to work just to tell there boss "bye bye boss !!!"

I have no idea what I would do.

I am a hairdresser and work at home and feel a loyalty to my clients. I think I'd want to quit at this point in my life and have time to play and enjoy some of the money but I used to say, "nope, I'd work anyway."

I would at least work for another month or so and tell all of my clients they would need to find someone new.

Yes, I would but I love my jobs. I would continue to work no matter how much money I won. We actually ahd a teacher at one school who won the Florida Lottery and continued to work because he loved teaching. He was always using his money to help other teachers and aides in times of need.

DH is a carpenter, and says he would keep working. Of course, I don't know how he will have time to get anything done with all the traveling I will ave planned.

I would definitely not work. Oh, I would go into work on a limited, part-time basis to help train my replacement. But I would only work while the kids are in school, and the bare minimum to make sure I don't leave my co-workers / friends in a lurch.

I like the idea of laying low for a while and making changes slowly. But I am not sure I could keep the secret that long.

People out a lot of stock into the work ethic. They think its wonderful when really rich people work like they always have. What they do not consider is that managing that much money is a full time job. Between increasing the wealth, workign with charities and taking care of my boys full time, WITH my husband home! (it's a nice dream) I would encourage my husband to quit right away, although I am not sure he would need much encouragement. I get why people want to keep busy but we could travel! I would never tire of that.

oh thanks for ruining the vision for me!! :lmao: Here I was imagining that I'd quit teaching and take up travel with my kids and let them see things other than disney!! (of course after DL, Disney in Paris and Disney in HongKong, and DCL!!!!) Now I have to keep working so I can pay for insurance...man my dreams are shot :( :teeth:

Dh says he'd keep working but never work another minutes overtime and take every vacation and sick day he's entitled to. He'd get bored quickly not working and that's when he's his most dangerous. I'm not even sure I'm going to let him retire!

I, OTOH, would have a lovely close up pic taken of my butt, draw a lip print on it and fax it to the corporate office with a note to consider this my notice. I'd take my time finding the absolute perfect job for me after that. Or maybe even go back to veterinary school.

A story in the Omaha World-Herald said that it takes about 2 weeks to actually process their winnings. Maybe they can't be without a paycheck for those 2 weeks so they work until the cash is in hand.

If you were picking up a check for $22.1 million (approx. $15 million after taxes) this morning, would you have gone into work last night?
I absolutely would. First of all, I would do nothing drastic until I had the money in my account. Even then it would probably take me several days to get used it. Second, I would not leave my employer and fellow employees high and dry.

I'd go to work to at least clean out my desk and tell everyone face to face. Maybe even work out my 2 week notice. I would make sure I left on good terms, just in case...

What happened to the guy who called in from Colorado ~ or some other state ~ claiming he had the winning ticket...he had bought it passing through on a business trip?????

Guess he was wrong.

That was a hoax call from a Colorado radio station. The lottery officials traced the call back and discovered where it had come from. A phone line registered to a radio station.

I would only work long enough to wrap things up/ transition to others etc. I understand the people who worry about being bored. I would work for charities/volunteer to fill in any extra time I have and to have a sense of accomplishments.

Exactly.

I'd still go to work but I really like what I do. I probably wouldn't work as much though and I'd definately retire early.

For my current boss, I'd probably come in enough to get somebody trained to handle my job. For other bosses I've had...I'd have made them fire me. :teeth: I'd have been the employee from hell, and would have thoroughly enjoyed telling them exactly what I thought of them.
