Unattended strollers - Where do you put them?

Hey...

I've been lurking for a while and have a question I haven't seen yet.

When hubby and I go on a kiddie ride with baby, where do we put her stroller? I am bringing my own and LOVE it. I wouldn't want it to stroll on alone. :earseek:

Is there a stroller spot or something? Should I pick up a cheapie stroller just for the trip? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Anna

1st things 1st . . . Welcome to the DIS!!!

There is stroller parking outside most attractions and in lots of areas around the parks. You just pull up and park it. Sometimes the CMs will move your stroller to keep things tidy, so its helpful to put a bright scarf or something on the handle to help spot yours.

Twice I've taken my $150 Combi and last time our $350 Maclaren Twin and never had a problem with them "walking away." Occaisionally, you hear reports of people's strollers being stolen, but they are rare and are usually a case of mistaken identity rather than true theft. I'd pick the stroller that works best for your needs and not worry about the risk of it being stollen.

Enjoy your trip!

Don't worry about not seeing where to park your stroller - there will be plenty of them parked in a gaggle, and many cast members helping to direct and rearrange them! I also found it helpful to have something that identifies the stroller as ours, made is easier to get back in the right one. Seven trips and we've never lost or had anything go missing. We usually leave the basic diaper bag in the basket, carrying the valuables in a fanny pack.

I was worried about this too!

There is stroller parking and we never had a problem. We even left our backpack.

But, don't leave popcorn at your stroller while you ride...the birds will get it! I wish I got a picture of these birds attacking a box of popcorn someone left on the stroller at the Jungle Cruise!

The unofficial guide had a good suggestion to help keep someone from taking your stroller. We tie a diaper to the handle with some apple juice in it, in a plastic bag so it looks like a soiled diaper we haven't thrown out yet. That will usually be enough of a deterrent from taking an expensive stroller. Also tie a bright piece of cloth on it, very tightly so it would take some time getting it off the stroller, will help deter someone from stealing it.

Thanks! You guys are great! I will find something to identify my stroller. I'm so excited... I can't wait to be there already!! :Pinkbounc

I just wanted to add that it's amazing how honest people become while they are at Disney World. Several times during our trip my DH went to park the stroller and would accidentally leave bags with newly purchased merchandise, brand new WDW sweatshirts, etc. hanging from the handle. Every time I would get angry at him for leaving them there, and every time he'd say, "don't worry, it will be fine."

He was right! No one touched any of our things, and apparently DH is not the only trusting soul, because lots of other people had bags in their strollers too. I'm not recommending that you purposely leave valuables in your stroller, but I don't think you really need to worry about people walking off with it. Somehow the pixie dust acts as a deterrent I think! :)

I can see that. People are not in that frame of mind in Disney.

I guess I am just overly cautious... it must be the "Brooklyn" in me. :)

I too was afriad that my stroller would get stollen. so when I took my first trip with my oldest 4 years ago, I brought a cable type bike lock and ran it through the wheels- it could be picked up and moved but it couldn't be used. This process lasted about a half a day until I got sick of unlocking and locking it. Too much wasted time. So I took my chances and left it- It was totally fine.

I also leave my diaper bag in it too.

This year I am bringing a double srtoller and I put a couple of address labels on the frame for ID (and to possibly deter anyone from stealing it since I could easily identify it) and I tied curling ribbon on the handles so I could find it quickly.

Also bring a stroller cover- or use an adult poncho- you never know when it will rain in Disney.
