Umbrella Stroller without baby!

to me, the less I have to carry or push in the parks the better. I am down now to a quite small fanny pack for cell phone, glasses case (on the off chance I decide to go on a ride that I would not want to lose my glasses on), and I put my baseball cap on the strap of the fanny pack, after the sun goes down.

I think it's pretty clear from the replies on this board that the vast majority of people would not think bringing a stroller for this purpose is a useful/convenient/necessary thing to do.

So why are we pretending that there is an imminent threat of this becoming so popular that children will no longer have room to walk?

I'm not "pretending" anything. and I never used the work imminent. if everyone used a stroller to carry their stuff, the parks would be very crowded. this is a fact. ergo, if someone does do this, they must think it is ok for them, but not everyone.

this is my opinion. there are enough strollers in the park to push the little kids around. I think it would be rude to bring one just to push your stuff around. for the same reason rolling suitcase, rolling back packs and wagons are not allowed.

I get what you're saying, but I also think pushing a stroller to carry a backpack full of water bottles (when water is free from CS locations, no?) is its own punishment. People have already pointed out that there's the danger of theft and security issues, not to mention the hassle. I think Love Tink is right - not many are going to settle on this as the best way to solve their problem.

I also think if everyone were using a stroller to push around their stuff (how silly would that look? :rotfl:), Disney would come up with some new rules. See "Lifetime Refillable Mugs" .....

Always remember and don't ever forget... even thieves take a family vacation from time to time and it is a tough habit to break.

My thoughts are if you need a stroller to carry your stuff in the park you are bringing in too much stuff

Pair it down to what your really need if you cant fit lunch for 4 people and a couple of refillable water bottler and sunscreen in a bag it's too much

I've done many back country paddles with scouts where we would have 8 people and for the day every one had nothing more then a fanny pack that held 2 water bottles rain gear ect and one small day bag that held the lunch for 8 people

And here I am seriously contemplating just bringing the ring sling/Boba4g instead of a stroller for our 22-month old this fall. That is probably far more weird than OP's plan, if not downright foolish. But what is really bothersome about this thread is how many people have reported theft out of or of their stroller - yikes!

Do you know about the existence of wire shopping/utility carts for personal use? This one http://www.amazon.com/Folding-Shopp...qid=1431913475&sr=1-39&keywords=shopping+cart holds up to 150 pounds; you might have been able to move the books in one trip.
I saw one of these in use last month. I was right in front of the speed way and I remember cause it's not some thing you usually see in the park. We are a family who still use strollers but it does cross my mind "where am I going to put my drink when I don't have a stroller" lol :lmao:

Also I have pushed a childless stroller around plenty of times, no big deal, it happens.

too funny on the bolded part! ITA! lol...
and of course most people would not do this(because they know better) and therefore it wouldn't get to the extreme point. and that.. sigh.. was my point.. that some feel entitled (kungaloosh!) to do what wouldn't work if everyone did it.

IF...you take the stroller, put a bike lock on it and the backpack. Lock any compartments on the backpack. Best you can do if you decide to use the stroller. We've actually thought about doing that once or twice.
