Ultimate Park Hoppers

Hello. My husband and I just booked the Dream Maker package for December. Yay! My question is this...since we will be leaving early on our departure day (and won't be entering any parks), is there a way to not pay for the park hoppers for that day? I wasn't sure how this works with a package. Thanks for any help!

I've heard rumors that some people were allowed to drop the last day, but it's never happened to me. We just give in and do the parks on our last day and check into an offsite hotel for the evening. You can always call Disney and ask.

When you book UPH's as part of a package, you are locked into getting them for your entire stay. They cannot be altered.

I could be wrong (it has happened once:p ) I thought the UPH was the same as LOS. You are allowed to drop one day (arrival or departure) if you request it at check-in.

Good Luck
Sandy

I want to get a UPH but my sister is nervous that if something happens and we don't go we can't get a refund or exchange for the dates. So my obvious question is can I get a refund or switch the dates??? Thanks:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Now it's happened twice, Sandy. :p

You can have your arrival or departure day dropped from a UPH (formerly LOS) only if you wait to purchase it at resort check in. Any UPH purchased as part of an all-inclusive package like Dream Maker cannot be altered.

ragu:

Your UPH will fall under the same cancellation/refund policy as governs your reservation since the ticket never actually exists until you check in.

If you were to pre-purchase any other ticket in advance (PH, PHP, AP, etc) from CRO/WDTC and you had to cancel, you would not get a refund on the tickets since they charge you for them in full and mail them to you prior to your arrival. But on the plus side, the tickets never expire so you wouldn't really be losing anything. You just wouldn't be able to get your cash back.

I have my trip planned for December and I booked it through the Disney Club. I also booked the Dreammaker Package. I made my first night reservation as a "room only" and the remaining nine days of my stay are the Dreammaker Package.

GoldenOldie.....I am confused.....you state that this can only be done if you wait to purchase at check in???

Was I given the wrong information? I certainly hope not! Couldn't Mrs. Carpenter book the Dreammaker package for the days in the beginning of her trip and make her last night a "room only"?

Thank you for all of the replies! The only reason we booked the package anyway (instead of room and tickets separately) was to get the 0% APR on the Disney Visa (and it said you have to book a package). I know there have been a lot of negative things said about the Disney Visa, but I thought since we love Disney and we put our major purchases on credit cards, the card would eventually be beneficial. Would it really work to book our last night as "room only"...is that like having 2 separate reservations? Would we have to change rooms? Sorry for all the questions...I'm fairly new to all of this! Thank you!

Let's try to un-confuse you. :)

You have two separate reservations. Obviously your room only has no tickets tied in with it. Simple enough.

Your second reservation has a UPH which will run from the moment you check in until midnight of the day you check out. You cannot change that UPH to drop any days.

Sometimes people have to check out very early on the day they leave. Maybe they have to catch an early flight home. They don't want to have to pay for a day on their UPH that they aren't going to be able to go to the parks. So they ask to drop their check out day from the UPH. If they purchased their UPH at resort check in (as opposed to in advance as part of a package like Dream Maker) they can have the departure day dropped. But UPH's purchased as part of a package cannot be modified. They must run the entire length of the reservation. In your case it would be for the second reservation covering days 2-9.

Couldn't Mrs. Carpenter book the Dreammaker package for the days in the beginning of her trip and make her last night a "room only"?
Certainly she could.

Yes it would work. Your package is only tied into a single reservation and your UPH would expire at midnight of the last day. If you had a room only reservation for the final night, you would not be paying for park admissions you weren't going to use.

The possibility exists about changing rooms (never say never!) but it is highly remote. Just make sure that you let the room assigners at the resort know that you will have continuing reservations and you would like to stay in the same room. You can have this noted on your reservation by WDTC/CRO but it would be to your benefit to fax the request in yourself 4 days prior to your arrival just to be sure. You'll have to go through the checking out and checking back in again routine at the front desk but it should only take about 5 minutes to do.

Sorry for all the questions...I'm fairly new to all of this! Thank you!
Don't be sorry. People would never learn anything if they didn't ask questions. Someone much wiser than me once said "The only question to be sorry about is the one not asked". :)

Thanks, GoldenOldie. Now I’m wondering if this is worth changing at all. Someone check my math though, please. The total package price for 2 adults for 6 nights/7 days is $3844 ( I got rid of the cancellation insurance.), staying at the Contemporary (tower). The price for 5 nights is around $3235 (once again, minus that insurance). Then, if we booked a room-only reservation on our last night, it would be around $525. That grand total would be $3760, making my savings around $84. Somehow, I was thinking that not going to the parks on our departure day (and figuring out a way to not pay for those tickets) would save me more. Maybe not, though.

You don't say when in December you are going (Christmas week is much more expensive than the first three weeks) but either way, I'd say you are basing that room price on full rack rate.

There will be code discounts available. They just are not released for that time period yet. Your actual cost of that room should be much lower (unless it's Christmas week).

Oh, sorry about that. We plan to check in on Dec. 27 and check out on Jan. 2. I was under the assumption that there aren't any discounts during this time, but maybe I was wrong.
