3 years ago when we went to WDW we were able to get an ultimate park hopper pass for one day less than the required number of days because we arrived very late on the first day. Has anyone been able to do this recently? The website is very clear and says that the pass must be purchased for the numbers of nights plus 1 (4 night requires a 5 day pass). However, nothing will even be open by the time we arrive, so I'm hoping we can buy for one less day (it'll save us $49 each!).

Thanks

I was able to drop the last day when I purchased UPHs las spring (2003). I bought the passes at check in, they were not part of a package.

What we did (and I think a lot of people do) was have a room only reservation for our first night then a separate reservation with the package and UPH tickets starting on the second night. That way you don't have to worry about wasting a ticket if you arrive late the first day. They'll even note that you have a continued reservation if you're staying onsite and can move your luggage for you (at least that's what they told me, assuming you're changing rooms). The WL front desk told me I could check in and pick up our tickets at 7:00am on the day our package starts.

Do not buy the package with the ticket. They cannot drop the day this way. When you check in then buy the UPH ticket and tell the crew member you want to drop a day ... this they can do...

When you buy it as a package you have to have all the days but at check-in they have more flexability... that's what a crew member told me.... and that is what I did no problem..

As others have said, you can do it. However, you will not be able to purchase the UPH in advance--meaning that you will have to pay the higher "gate" prices for the pass less one day.

If there is any way you could use the pass that first day (DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, etc.), then at least price out what you would pay for the entire stay at the Advance purchase price vs. the Gate price for one less day. The difference is often insignificant.

You could do what diselderm suggested and try to get two separate reservations, but that can also be a hassle. There is always the chance that you will have to switch rooms after the first night, and you'll definitely have to check-in again. If you have to switch rooms, Disney does make it fairly painless for you, but it likely means you will be without a room for several hours (from am check-out time to pm check-in time).
