Sorry to keep bugging you guys. I had asked earlier about where to stay in Scotland this September. I was searching plane ticket prices, when my DH informed me that due to his work, he can't travel in September.

So we have a few options. This June. This August. Next June. Next August or September.

I am more in favor of going in 2013. I really want out of dodge, as well as next year will be a busier year for us.

I am leaning towards not June of either year because my oldest son is a huge football fan and would like to see a game while he's there. (His favorite is Manchester United, which we know will be next to impossible to get tickets to, so he's agreed any game would be good.) Knowing the season starts in August, I thought maybe that would work for this year.

Now I see that Edinburgh has festivals all of August. That was on our list to at least visit one day. Will it be a madhouse?

Also, I know your school kids are out through August, right? So how busy will that make the average tourist attraction? (WDW in August busy?!)

What about weather? I know summers are a little unpredictable, but are we better off coming June-August then the end of Sept into October?

Thanks again for all your replies. I am researching like mad since if we're going this year, we need to start booking, but I'm unsure. September would be cheaper.....

cant really answer all of your questions but will try for a few

edinburgh will be busy when the festivals are on in august. but then again it could be a good opportunity to go see some shows and take in some of the culture, so it may actually be a plus to go then

our kids go back to school first week of september, august is the busiest month for tourist places for obvious reasons, but they wont be august at wdw busy. i havent been to wdw in august but have been over 4th july and nothing here will ever compare to that level of busy.....

weather wise july/august would be better than september/october. weather can suck any time of the year over here but your best chance at good weather would be july/august

Most Scottish schools go back in the middle of August. Edinburgh will be busy through August and hotel rooms will be quite expensive but it is also a fabulous time to go.

Weather wise a scottish summer can be anything, some days could be lovely and warm and others could be really quite cool and also very wet. Nice weather is never guaranteed here and it wouldn't matter if you went in June or August, the weather would still be unpredictable, but a better chance than into October. October can be nice but also we can get our first snow/frost then.
