uk entry to usa

Yes you are right, I had thought of getting a visa anyway to be safe. However, what do I say to them? and if I declare it what if they need further info and dates? I have nothing relating to this event and I never did have any documents or anything.

Ian - many apologies, my youth IS a long way back so I just presume everyone elses' is too!!!

Lol Only Joking with ya! Im not really youthful however Im a year off 40!!!
Flutterby If you apply to your Police County HQ it costs £10 and they make a request to Scotland Yard for a memorandum of conviction which is your record on a printout so will be clear and as theirs no police records older than 10 years ands also all case notes are destroyed you should be OK
Its a tricky one yours as in mine was more def i went to court,
Or if like me you want no stone unturned and plaiyng it all by the book phone The US Embassey,When I phoned they were very approachable but very strict NO Rule bending
I dont know really someone will come along with better idea,But one thing youve got the time on your side,
IAN

No offence was taken floridalol - lol -- Now do you know it costs £67 for a visa application ( waste of money if not needed ) also A visa is issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. A visa entitles the holder to travel to the United States and apply for admission; it does not quarantee entry. An immigration inspector at the port of entry determines the visa holder's eligibility for admission into the United States.

Plus i'm not sure that a visa lasts for 10 years Ian -- we had a B-2 Visa back in 1991 -- because we were flying with Aeroflot , and it only lasted 3 months.

So Flutterby JMHO but i think your wasting good money on something you may have to keep repeating

jj....... ;)

That must have been a temp visa or something wasnt it? I got my visa in 1989 A B-2 which was indefinite and it wasnt till 1995 where they changed and abolished the indefinite thing turning it into 10 years,
your only allowed 3 months entry on a visa though maybe its that,
If its only for 3 months they say it can take up to 3 months to get your passport back so things will be very tight??
As in when does your visa start its 3 months?

Not sure about the Visa's limits maybe someone else might know Ian.

I have been reading this thread with interest. I do not have an opinion on whether certain people would need a visa or not. What I would say is if you feel that there is even the remotest possibility that you will need one, get one! I can tell you from experience that you do NOT want to be stuck in immigration for hours while they check to make sure that you have the correct paperwork.

Some immigration officers act like gods, if they suspect that you do not have the correct paperwork they will send you back!!

Flutterby
In order for you to apply for a Visa on criminal grounds you must obtain the information from the relevant law court and present it at an interview with a US embassy official. As you never appeared in court you obviously have no conviction to answer.
Stop worrying and look forward to your hols.

Thank you Peewakio, that's the clearest advice yet and makes alot of sense. I certainly intend to have the best holiday ever and promise not to worry anymore! :p
