Uk Electrical items in USA Plugs

ok this just came to me, and never been overseas, we will be taking camers, phones, Nintendo DS's and Camcorders etc etc that all have chargers for them, we have brought plug adapters for them to use in the USA, but what about voltage ? will i need a voltage adapter thingy ? if so, where and what should i buy

Walmart has them when you arrive. I have also seen them at the airport in Orlando.

so, i need the plug adapter and a power voltage changer thingy ? (to go from our 230v elec items to usa 110v ?)

No, most electical items can be just plugged in using the std adapter. You need to check each plug/charger, it should say input 110-240v this means it can be used on both UK and US voltage. If it says 220-240v then it won't work.
I have been going to Florida for 14 years now every item I have taken has worked except a motorola v220 mobile phone, we take laptops, mp3 players, gameboys, cameras etc, all work with a cheap adaptor from 3 pin to 2 pin.

I don't know what you have already purchased, but a plug adaptor is not a voltage adaptor and you will blow fuses or fry your item if you don't change the voltage. Many things say 120/240v on them....some have a switch that you can flip to change the voltage.

For US to British/European (am an American who has lived in Europe for going on 8 years now) we use these really heavy transformers that you certainly don't want to buy or lug around. But that is for things that heat up, like hair dryers, microwaves, irons, etc. I don't know about phone/battery chargers since you don't heat them up, you just recharge them.

Funny, I've never tried it going the other way....plugging European into American sockets!
