Just been into Boots, and where they have the reduced stuff they had a load of different Soltan sun cream and spray. The assistant said it was being reduced as now Soltan has different packaging... but the best of it is that it is BOGOF

mine cost the grand total of £3.87 for two large bottles!
also bought the facial cream BOGOF - price £2.49

great price for your hols!!!

You could ask a mod to make it into a sticky so its here and updated all the time

We are very reluctant to make threads into sticky's, main reason is they get overlooked. For example the hotel photo sticky, Simon posted in it in April, time before that was Oct 2010, 2 posts in 9 months, yet before it was made a sticky plenty posted in it.

As this is a new thread we will see how it goes over the next few weeks, if there is reason to make it a sticky I will discuss with Kenny and Deb.

Reagrds savings for DD I bought her a money counting jar.Everytime she hits £30 we have changed it to dollors(well a fairfx card to start with as better rate) I have it in my name but nearer the time I will give her the dollors equivilent.
I also sell on ebay buy everything through topcash back or quidco.House insurance car insurance etc have over £350 pending which should be through in plenty of time for our november trip.
I found in my local chemist the high factor ROC spray sun cream for £2 a tin. I bought 3. Not out of date so dont know why its so cheap.
We also have a large coke bottle for coppers. It holds over £100 as we found out last year.Nightmare to count though:rotfl:

Register with restuarant .com for vouchers for a few dollors, the malls for vouchers,.Get a cheap AA membership to get 10% discount in the universal parks and city walk shops and restuarants.

I also agree with the not discounting TA packages.Have been suprised that CO got our flights cheaper then VA direct and OKW cheaper than disney. Good if you dont have the money to pay the full amount as well and just pay a deposit. Heres someone who was completley against TA.

we booked direct with Virgin this time as we were using clubcard points for part pf the payment. However, our TA has told us that they would have been able to beat that price by more than the clubcard voucher value.

one thing that I started doing a few months ago was planning menus and shopping. It started off because I was annoyed at the waste each week in my fridge but I found it saves an awful lot of money too. I have a note book and on the left hand side I jot down what (roughly) we will have for dinner each day and on the right hand side I write the shopping list, based on the menu plans. It has stopped the waste and knowing what it for tea each night makes life easier.

As other posters have previously mentioned I use Quidco whenever possible and sell lots of unwanted stuff (usually children's toys) through e-bay.

Great thread idea...

We've saved our child benefit for years into a savings account. Might not be the government's intention for child benefit, but we feel the holiday will benefit our children!

When we booked, we did so via Quidco and got almost £200 cash back.

I used to do this! let the government pay for the holiday

i save £20 notes in a terramundi. they are like those tins but are about £20 each so you tend not to smash them till they are full. then when i smash the top off i put them in the garden. i love terramundi and buy everyone them for birthdays and such. its got a nice sentiment behind it too. my daughter saves £2 coins in hers and had £500 when she smashed it. a new wardrobe for college :)

I did this, I saved £2 coins in mine for 5 years although I confess I was slightly disappointed that there was only £500 in it after saving for such a long time.

Sorry if i'm being a bit thick, but how do you get the AA discount off universal...do you have to buy your tickets at the gate?

Great thread idea! I am always one to trying and find moneysaving and money making ideas! :) I think eBay is a great way to save for holidays, and I also do mystery shopping is great. :) We save all our 5p, 2p and 1p coins, and these do add up. :)

Fantastic thread!!! I am going to set up a savings plan for Florida 2012. Using my savings plus tips from here, I'm sure I can have it booked and paid off in no time ;)

Hey guys,

OK so maybe it's not on a budget...

Boots stores that stock designer sunglasses are doing a BOGOF deal (only 3 stores in the UK are doing this offer in Glasgow, London and Manchester)

Me and my GF managed to save £165 on a pair of Oakleys and RayBans :woohoo:

We're doing wdw for our honeymoon and were given a terrumundi pot as a gift at our engagement party - in 1 yr we saved £222 by putting on 50ps upwards in it - I work in a bar and often get £2 tips, these all went straight in the pot :)

We got the max amount of Tesco Clubcard couchers we could use: £1050 for the two of us - a massive saving! We just looked out for all the extra clubcard point deals, and got our families to help out too, and did this in a year!

Restaurant.com has some great deals for restaurants in Swan and Dolphin - we're using one for a night when we dont have any DDP credits left!

We found it more worthwhile to stay in a delux resort so that the free DDP gives us a free table service meal each night, as we know that is where we spend money.

Sure there are other things... will have a think!

Great thread , we do car boot sales with my DS unwanted stuff this gives him his spending money and this year he made enough to get $250 , I also use resturant.com and also I have signed up to groupon in floirda and got a few great deals . I also google for discount vouchers for florida and usally find some great deals for example last week I booked medieval times with a 50% discount

There are deals to be had just takes a little bit of time searching ( it can get a bit additive lol) KEEP THOSE IDEAS COMING :thumbsup2

Me and my partner buy the tins (£1 each) and put all £1 and £2 coins in it as well as any notes. The way we try and make it a bit more fun is to have a race. We see who can get the most money in their tin by 'opening day'. This way we are both trying our best to put as much money as we can in them and there is not even the slightest temptation to open them early! In the past we have saved £1500 in one of the bigger tins.
I also scan the internet for coupons during the few weeks before we go away.

In home bargains they sell the pound tins for 59p and they also have MASSIVE tins for £1.99, think i'll buy the massive one and fill it with £2 coins, see how much I can save in a year!!!
