** who have booked via tour operator :headache:

Hi this is my 1st time posting but I have read along for a while before registering.

We are currently in the proccess of booking our escape wedding for jun 2011. 8 months from now. By dftw rules this means we are eligible to book and confirm right? Well I have been told today that I can only book at the 6month point (by the tour operator). And that goes for all prospective brides regardless of how they book (tour operator or direct through Disney) the operator was adamant on the information and told me to contact Vita Vongsamphanh if I didn't believe her ... She really was that obnoxious.

Can I really only book at the 6month point?? If so I may consider cancelling the package through the operator and go through Disney direct :(

We booked Via Thomas cook in April 2010 for our wedding in March 2011. From what I understand you can book via travel agent & Disney provisionally book you in but dont confirm with you until the 6 month mark what date & time you have been slotted in to. We gave Thomas Cook 3 different days & times and we got the 1st date we wanted but the 2nd time slot which we were still very happy with. You then get sent your wedding pack, fill everything in and deal with your planner. Hope that helps.

Thanks Sophie :) so it looks like escape brides that book through Disney get the 1st digs as it were at the 8month point, and then free spots are filled up at the 6month point by 'outside' bookings. :headache:

I wish I'd known this at the beginning. I even asked them several times that it was still the same 8month point, this is the 1st ive head of the 6month rule. Oh well will have to decide with OH if we wait it out or go with Disney direct :confused3

To be honest I'm not 100% sure how the process works but we were told we would get one of our 3 options we put down. It depends if you 100% want you wedding on a particular date. We got our first choice of date but chose the 2pm (our first option) & 5pm slot and got the 5pm slot. We actually prefer this slot now as we can take everyone straight out for dinner after wedding and also the sun sets @ 6.30pm beginning of March so should be able to have sunset pictures. :)

If you need any other info let me know.

Thanks again Sophie.

Just as an update. Vita has e-mailed me back ( she seems lovely btw) to confirm my initial suspicions, thomson's had got it wrong. She is contacting them on mon with our details and will be our Disney contact from now on :)

Thats great news! We have been dealing with Vita too and she is great! She answers most questions the same day. Happy planning.
