Not sure this is the right place to ask so please move is need be -

I just logged into MDE and I can see our Magic Bands as well as out KTTW card under the "Magic Bands and Cards" section...

why are they in there? arent they completely useless given that these are from our past visit?
Why are they there? lol

Because they are not useless, if you want to you can use them exactly the way you use magic bands.

Nala, I've seen people say this before, but I'm not sure how this could work. I could use old cards to book FP+? Or...am I missing some other use for them?

To the OP, I found this confusing as well....

Makes no difference what is printed on them....it's going to be a matter of changing the way of thinking that the cards and the bands hold any pertinent data at all. What they have is a RFID chip that has a unique number that accesses YOUR My Disney Experience profile. If you have a resort stay and it's linked to MDX you can use any of the bands or cards that are active and assigned to you on MDX (the ones you want to be able to open the resort door should be used to open that door as soon as you can - if you have two, open the door twice, once with each item). If you have an active band or card that is assigned to your MDX account, they should be able to read any information on your MDX profile. They will not be deactivated unless YOU deactivate them.

Some of the old cards will also have a magnetic strip which was the old way of encoding information on the card (which was then read by swiping the strip). You're not going to need that anymore. it's all going to be done via that RFID chip.

I can use my annual pass card to open my resort door so long as I have a current stay linked to MDX. I could likely use an old KTTW card to enter the park as long as it is active and linked to the same profile. Haven't tried it, but that's how it's supposed to work.

It just means that the RFID chip in those cards is linked to your MDE account. It is your account that stores your FP+, not the chip, so conceivable you can use any RFID linked to your account to access them. I didn't realize old KTTW cards could still be used, however based on how the system works with Magic Bands, I could see it.

EDIT: TDC Nala beat me to it and explained it WAY better than I could.

Has to be emphasized from what Brian says that there is no information specifically regarding you or your stay encoded on the chip. All your information is in your MDX account and that is what the chip reads from.

thank you all for explaining...

I understand what you are saying I just find it confusing to have "old" items on my account...whether I can reuse them us a moot point... its confusing....

If I had only ONE magic band for each visit it would make sense to NOT disappear out of the profile...but I already customized new ones so yeah....

goes over my head... but thank you for explaining it to me :)

:confused3
