UHHHHH OHHHH.... Airbag Light Came On

Mine came on about two weeks after I bought it - four years ago! It comes on and goes off, comes on again, goes off again. I just dealt with in until we bought another vehicle. I drive the newer one! Easy solution for me!

It's so random that dh doesn't want to pay big $$$$ to have it checked. My vehicle is the "family" vehicle so dh's pretty much just is used for his 12 mile round trip commute.

I may have to goodle it and see if there is an easy solution, but I don't think there is anything under the seat.

Mine has been on since I got my van (01 Montana) and the dealership tried fixing it and it never went off, until this summer when my ds scout master was fiddling with my fuses and it is finally off. Now if my windows would work that would be great.

You should google the type of car you have and see what it says about the airbag. Sometimes if you mess with something such as putting in those XM radios can cause it to start acting up. Mine started blinking after some battery trouble. Looked it up as I had been to the dealer with it and found the fix solution. There is nothing wrong with our airbags but they would have charged me big bucks just to reset the light. I don't think so! But honestly, it is a good idea to find a forum like this one that discusses your type of car. You would be surprised at what you can learn about your vehicle!

If you fill out the NTSB form to request an on/off switch for a vehicle, it has no warning about seat belts reacting differently. So I'm curious to know where you got this information? We have an on/off switch on both the passenger and driver sides in our truck because I cannot sit 10 inches back from the wheel and still get the clutch all the way in. So that air bag is disabled most of the time. It has a light but that annoyed me, so we removed the light bulb in that one too!

Ha! Ours came on too.

$400 fix - Vehicle COntrol Module.

Good times....:headache:

I refuse to pay this kind of money for a dinky light in my vehicle when I use my seatbelt 100% of the time and believe in it's effectiveness. I also have a turn off switch and have been told by a friend who's a safety engineer that the seatbelt works the same with or without the airbag.

OH BLAH! I hope it's not that much!!!!! If they're going to do that they better gold-plate my dashboard, too!

Ours was gonna cost $150 JUST to diagnose. Get outta town. Then the estimate for whatever problem it MIGHT be was anywhere from a low $300 up to $900. I don't think so. Not during my life time. LOL

I drove my old car for over a year with the A B light on :cool1:

Our light has been on for 6 years now. Spank me! :rotfl:

Actually if you have an airbag in you car your seat belts react differntly than a car that does not have air bags. An air bag should be fixed for safety reasons.

Could you please explain how they work differently? Thanks. :)

Like I said, I got my info from a safety engineer who claims he's actually performed tests for this very thing. I was told there is no difference in how the seatbelt works with or without the air bags.

Interesting when you read two views on a subject! LOL Ya never really know who's right do ya? ;)
I hope your husband will give more details as to why the seatbelts work differently when an airbag is installed/used.
