Just glanced up at The Weather Channel and they changed the overnight forecast - down to 35 degrees.. 34 degrees tomorrow night.. Actually looks like mostly 30's all week..

My Dson-in-law just said to me last night that he thinks we're going to have an early winter this year.. I think I need to smack him - LOL..

Next weekend they pull the trailer out - boat left today, jet ski the weekend before last.. After this coming Sunday, I'm on my own..

I hope he's wrong about the winter.. I probably won't make that Dec. 1st "target date", but I don't want to have to leave in October either!!

I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that we get a nice extended Indian Summer..:thumbsup2

Fingers crossed that you can stay longer.

I hope winter stays away as long as it can. Not excited to get into the cold, cold temps yet.

didnt you write this exact same thing last year at this time???

We got really cold last week. I hate the cold but it sure was nice to turn off the AC and save that electric bill. It got all the way down to 47 one night. I am in Florida so that is really cold this time of year. Of course, it jumped back up to 90 again. So hopefully, it will warm back up for you too!

C. Ann I heard we are suppose to have a very cold winter, It is getting very chilly here this week as well. I welcome the cooler temps, it was a very hot and humid summer.

I'm hoping that most of the country faces a very long, very cold winter. Just not around here.

We have been in the mid 80's (even hit 90 the other day). We are going back to more seasonal temps in a couple days, upper 60's. Hopefully that is on the way to you too.

Well, if the old story about the squirrels frantically gathering nuts means a hard winter, than we're in for it!! They've made a big mess in our area. I hope it stays fall as long as possible, I love everything about fall with exception of raking leaves . We still need a good frost here to help make beautiful foliage. Good luck on your Dec 1 deadline C.ann. :goodvibes

I wouldn't want to leave the lake this early either!

DH winterized our camper up north 3 weeks ago, because the temperatures were getting pretty low at night and we weren't sure if/when we'd get back up there.

Well, they're almost done with corn harvest which is w-a-y early this year, normally they're not done until at least Halloween and most years even a bit longer than that. But it was an early harvest this year because of it being so dry in August. They think they'll finish up by Wednesday.

So...we're planning on at least one more weekend (maybe two!) up north this month!:banana::banana: The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, sunny and in the 60's so I'm really excited about getting the chance to spend more time up there!!

So I understand how you feel!! :goodvibes It got up to 82 here yesterday, and very sunny, it was gorgeous with all the trees so colorful now.

C.Ann, it will be 85 here today, I will send you some of the warmth!:goodvibes
It's been just beautiful here, I could use it just a little cooler, but not much!
I hope the weather holds out and you get to stay until you are ready!
For now, enjoy each day!

Oh no!! I hope you won't have to leave the lake in October :(
Do you have heat there? I would get one of those portable heaters to prolong the stay, if it's safe for the outlets. I'm trying to hold out on putting the heat on til November 15th. DD9 is making it hard though, every morning she comes down to breakfast and says I need to put the heat on. It's really only 68 in the house so I think she can tough it out :rolleyes1

that wasn't very nice to say. There's alot of people who suffer when it's so cold maybe they don't have the money to pay for heat or maybe they have to walk in the cold tsk tsk

yuck!

hope the kids get a break for Halloween! I like when we can all be hanging outside, instead of inside behind the front door!:)

There are lots of benefits to warm winters and to cold winters. We could desperately use a very cold winter in the rockies to kill off the pine bark beetles. They've made a hash out of our western forests. It would also be nice if we started having much colder winters because that might indicate that global warming isn't happening, which would save us from very expensive remediation steps. It would also be very good for people working in the energy industry. So I wish that everybody could have the winter that they want, but the one I want is a very cold one (just not where I live).

Yes - I have heat here.. It's a wall-mounted type heater that while not as efficient as central heat, it usually keeps me warm enough that I can stay until at least sometime in November.. (Last year I left Nov. 29th..:thumbsup2) The biggest concern is my water pipes freezing - because they're exposed..

The only reason I didn't hold out last year until December 1st is because Mother Nature was threatening a huge snowstorm - which would have made it very, very difficult for my Dson-in-law to get in here, pack his truck and my van with all my stuff, and get back out again.. Then the darn storm never materialized!!!! :headache:

Last year was the first year that I was ever able to stay here beyond Thanksgiving - in the entire 59 years I've been coming here - and just once I would like to say I stayed until December 1st.. You know - kind of like one of those "Bucket List" things..;) If I can ever accomplish that, I'll go back to being satisfied with leaving sometime in November - whenever the weather chases me out..:goodvibes

C. Ann, I'm pulling for your Dec. 1 departure too!:thumbsup2
I am in the middle of the Lake Ontario lake effect snow band, and drive almost 70 miles a day round-trip to work in Syracuse. I just hate that drive in the snow! I have finally made the decision to retire on December 3 :cool1::woohoo::dance3: and I am just praying that the heavy snows hold off until then!

Yikes!! That's quite a drive!!

I'll be rooting for you that the snow holds off until after December 3rd..:thumbsup2

Congrats on your retirement..:goodvibes

C.Ann it feels like you just went back to the lake. :) I hope you're able to stay longer, I think Dec 1st is a great goal to try for. I also wanted to let you know that where I am, last week it was in the high 70's, this week it's all forecasted in the 90's.....it's not normally 90 in October around here (normal is 70's) so hopefully you'll warm up as well. :)
