Our return home flight is at 6pm. So, we would get on DME at 3pm-ish... when is 'check out' for All Star Music? Are we going to be charged a 'late checkout fee' if we check out at 3pm?? What should we do? Could we check out, leave our bags with a 'bell hop' or behind the front desk, and go to like... DTD for the morning? Then come back and catch the DME bus to the airport? We're flying Southwest, so our bags won't be transported to the airport for us-- we have to take them on DME with us. HELP!!!! :confused3

Absolutely. Check out by the checkout time or earlier, tell them you won't be leaving until later and they will store your luggage for you. I always plan a later flight and have never had a problem.

At check out time you just need to let the front desk know that you will need them to hold your bags until your ME pick up time. You will then be directed to their baggage holding area in which to leave your luggage. They will give you a claim ticket. Usually, you have to be back three hours prior to your departure flight.

You can call front desk the day before and see if you can do a late check out. I have done this before, not around any holidays, and was given 3 extra hours at no charge. If it is really busy they may deny it. If all else fails, take luggage and have it checked in and spend those last few hours shopping at DTD.

I have had that same flight time/DME time several times -- you can easily check out bright and early/check your bags (no cost - just the tip) and spend the morning til early afternoon in a park/resort hopping/or whatever.

You definetly will get charged. I would suggest taking an earlier flight so I wouldn't have to wait around or get charged a late checkout fee.

There is absolutely no reason to do late check out and certainly no reason to try to change your flight. Just check out at normal time, leave your bags at ASMU (it is free, they do not charge you anything) and go have a great last day in the parks.

We did late check out 2 years ago at the WL. If it's not a busy time, they will give you until 1:00 pm at no charge; until 3:00 pm is 1/2 a night's room rate; and anytime after 3:00 pm is a full night's rate. But as this poster said, call the day before as they'll be able to see what the capacity is for the following day and whether or not they need you out of your room by the normal check out time.

To me, this is close to being insane. And you're a Dis'r?!!! I always get the lastest flight I can so I can go enjoy the parks until it's time to get back to the resort to catch my ME bus back to reality. I would never choose an earlier flight so I wouldn't have to "wait around." You're at Disney for goodness sake!

I always take the latest flight home possible. You do not even have to go to the counter to check out of your resort if you chose express checkout. Your bill is under your door the day you check out.
All you need to do in the morning is to call bell services to come and get your bags, when they get there just let them know you are checking out but need for them to hold your luggage. They give you receipts for your bags and then you are good to go to the parks or whatever. If your pickup time is 3:00for DME, give yourself plenty of time to be back to the resort by about 2:30, then just go and claim your luggage and wait for the bus.
As another poster indicated, you can try to get a late check out, you can stay until 1:00 without being charged for another night. But this has been hit and miss with me, it depends on how many guests are expected etc.

Me too!:)Sometimes I even take a taxi back to the Resort instead of WDW Transportation so I can stay in the Parks until the LAST minute!:)

We have the same problem in September. Our flight doesn't leave until 7:30 pm so we just booked an extra night at POFQ. We've done it in the past so that we can store our luggage in our airconditioned room and take a quick shower befor we leave for the airport. September can get pretty warm so that quick shower really helps to feel refreshed. I also like to bring "treats" home so if the luggage is in the room, nothing melts.
