Uh oh....very sensitive female subject inside (not for faint of heart, lol)

I know this won't work for you, but others have mentioned this. My GYNO actually prescribes my birth control pills without the sugar pills at the end. I have endometriosis and to cut down on the pain (well, the whole period) I just take the active pills. She says I can have a period if I feel bloated at anytime, but she says it is safe if you have one a year. I've been doing this for about three years and it really helps.

There is one other solution, but it is a bit drastic and I don't know if you or your doctor would be willing to do this. There is a drug called Lupron that they put people with endometriosis on. The best way I can explain it is that it gobbles up the hormones that trigger your body to get ready to have a period. They do it for us because it actually kills some of the endometrial tissue as it needs the hormones to live, but it stops your periods entirely. The downside is that you don't get the hormones that women need to help promote bone growth. So you have to take lots of calcium and they usually limit the time your on the drug to six months.

Sorry this sounds like a biology class! I know this may be drastic for a wedding, but there are other non-hormone options to modify your cycle out there. There may be something else that your GYNO can suggest. If its something that is important to you, it can't hurt to ask.

I have actually been on Lupron during my invitro cycles. This is the med that stops my cycle...so that they can stimulate the heck out of it. I take lupron shots for a certain amount of time. Then when everything is all quiet..they start stimulating!! It is a crazy med though. It made me feel like I was going thru menopause (or so what I have heard of menopause) and I'm not sure if it comes in a pill or not..mine was injections.

I am another who would have started during honeymoon. I was able to not take the sugar pills as many have mentioned.

Wow, I'm so sorry that you can't take the "easy" solution. I'm sure your doctor will have some ideas on what to do. The pill has definitely been my friend in making sure that things are clear for the wedding. If all goes as planned, things should be clearing up the day before we fly to Florida (a Tuesday) and the wedding is on the Saturday.

I've had experience with the close contact female thing too. I went to a professional dance school for a couple of years and all the girls roomed on the same floor. I wouldn't be surprised if the guys were terrified to come on that floor at that time of the month. Probably 75% of us were on the same schedule, the rest were too young to get it!

I know it won't help with the wedding itself, but for the honeymoon there is a product called Softcup which acts as a barrier while you're having your visit and will allow you to do, um... other things, without mess. ;)

I have not used it but know women who do - they say it takes getting used to but is great once you have. You can google softcup and you should find their website.

Also, I wouldn't invest too much worry yet - especially if you are planning to diet before the wedding. Stress, weight loss/gain, changes in living situations... all of these can throw you off your cycle and wind up resetting it anyway between now and then.

Hang in there!

That sucks about the pill; you could work out like crazy(run marathons) or become anorexic and this could stop you period (called amenorrhea). Sorry, bad medical humor.

By the way the pill doesn't not cause drastic weight gain (usually less then 5 pounds) and even less now that the pill has evolved since the 1970's. The pill simply stops the release of eggs by manipulating hormones and thickens the mucas around your cervic (to inhibit the flow of sperm into the uterus). The idea that you will gain weight because your body thinks it is pregnant it unjustified since you usually only gain a significant amount of weight during you 2nd and 3rd trimesters, when the fetus is growing. Idealistically you should only gain about 30 pounds (minus the weight of the baby) during a pregnancy, though this often not case since women exercise less and eat more "bad" foods. If on the pill, continue eating right and exercising, and there should be no weight gain.
Sorry for the medical lesson. ;)

I have the same problem as you. I can't do the hormone in the pill because it throughs my body into 'melt down'. I get so sick I black out, so my gyno prescribed a pill called "Micro Nor". Its a b/c pill that doesn't have any hormone in it. Give it a try.

I am concerned about being on my time when the wedding and honeymoon comes too but unfortunately I have been prescribed every pill you can think of and have gone through neumerous tests as to why I bleed so much and so bad-so I decided that if I am on my time during the wedding or the honeymoon I'll deal with it the best I can- we have even changed my pill several times to try and cut the bleeding into only being 2-3 days instead of 7-9 days and nothing works. Sometimes you can't mess with mother nature. I just realize that it's a fact and a part of my life and try not to let it get the best of me.

I didn't know there was such a thing! I wonder how it works. Does anybody know the science behind this pill? ~Ev :scratchin

Just lurking (in preparation for our vow renewal in 2009)...

Micronor does have hormones. Most pills are an estrogen/progesterone combination. However, micronor (also called the mini-pill) is a progesterone only preparation. It is ofen prescribed for nursing moms since the estrogen can cause problems with milk production. It is also given to women who suffer side effects from the estrogen combination pills .
