Uh Oh...My DDxDp Trip Turned Upside Down (AGAIN)...We're back!! FF & Cali Grill 11/22

Congrats!

So sorry that Le Cellier didn't live up to the hype. My DF, soon to be DH, always gets the filet. I love the prime rib at Le Cellier. Always cooked well. But the strip looks awesome! I have heard back and forth on the strip, but I might have to try it on our January trip.

And every time someone gets the smores and doesn't like it I get sad because they look so good! I haven't tried them, and probably won't because of the amazing chocolate whiskey cake, but I feel like pretty desserts should taste good! ;)

great start, sorry to hear your son was sick. Our last trip our son got sick at end of the trip...it was hard traveling on the airplane with a sick child.

Oh so sorry about DS getting sick. You had to cancel some sweet eats! Bummer about your filet. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times and always had a good cut of meat. Did you think about sending it back? I must admit, I don't get the hype about risotto either.....

DH really enjoyed the cake. I agree, if it looks good it should taast good!

Not to be too graphic but he had very bad congestion which caused nosebleeds. Can you imagine everytime your child sneezes or coughs you have to be worried about their nose bleeding?? I was walking on pins and needles!

Did you think about sending it back?
No, I'm not one to send food back unless its absolutely not edible. If I'd sent anything back it would've been that cheddar cheese soup. Gross! I see it as trial and error.

I forgot to add our rating system. We do this with every place we eat and its quite simple:

Will return - Means will REALLY liked it.
Will probably return - Means we like some parts of the meal and will likely try something different on the next visit.
DO NOT RETURN - Neither one of us feels it worth a try again.

Le Cellier we probably will return to....for that Strip! :thumbsup2

I didn't take any pics at FF because after a long day at HS, we wanted nothing more than to hurry up and eat and get back to the room.

Me:
App: Crab Cake, it was a bit too spicy for my taste (I'm sensitive to spice/heat when pregnant). Not the best crab cake but not the worst either.
Entree: Whole Lobster atop some type of vegetable fricasse. The lobster was really good, I'm a lobster fan. It was the special and didn't have a side that it came with so I had to pick a side from one of the entrees. I'd already determine I didn't like risotto so that was out. Only thing that sounded appetizing was the vegetable fricasse which I didn't think it was a good accompaniment for the lobster.
Dessert: None

DH:
App: Crab Cake which he liked.
Entree: Char Crusted NY Strip, second best steak. He had the sauce on the side because he's not much of a sauce man, but I thought it was really good together.
Dessert: Some type of apple tart for him. And he also order some type of vanilla bean cheesecake. He enjoyed both as his late night snacks.

DS:
App: Fruit Skewer, he loves fruit and loved this.
Entree: Chicken breast skewers, I thought they were quite tasty. DS lost interest in eating anything else at this point sleep was setting in.
Dessert: Chocolate puzzle, he enjoyed playing with it but didn't eat much of it.

The verdict: Will return. There was nothing that gave us the "ohh, we have to come back here" feeling. The food was good but unless we're staying at the BW, which I doubt will ever happen, we won't be going back.

We were both excited about this meal!

Me:
App: Shrimp Tempura less the fruit (whatever it is)

Heavenly! This was sooo good. I'm a sushi freak and this hit the spot!

Entree: Monchong with Stir-Fry Veggies and Ginger-Soy Hijake broth

OMG! This fish was so good! I didn't care for the rice & broth, it had a bit of sweetness to it that I wasn't expecting. I hate sweet food, give me savory over sweet any day!

Desert:
None

DH:
App: Suckling Pig Flatbread

I think DH was expecting large pieces of meat. I didn't care for it because of, of course, the apples. I don't like cooked fruit. It was kinda tart too.

Entree: Oak Fired Filet

So, this is the steak that takes the title for toughest steak we've ever eaten. I knew not to order this because I figured the teriyaki sauce was sweet. But, DH is a red meat fiend and I'm sure he regetted not getting the rib-eye on the menu.

Dessert: I don't remember what this was. We were trying to make it back to MK with a couple hours to walk around so we asked for the dessert that took the least amount of time to make. And this is what he ended up with.

DS was still sick so he basically played over his food. He did enjoy playing with the sushi dessert but wouldn't eat it.

Would we return? Definitely! We enjoyed the ambiance at Cali Grill. We had an early ADR, 5:35, and it was perfect timing because we got a beautiful sunset view. Although we didn't catch the fireworks, we were told that we could bring our receipt back later that night to watch from the observation deck. I thought that was nice.
