My guide just called me. He said that the promotion they have lasts until June 8 which is next Wednesday.

No Aulani for me so it was down to BLT and AKL. I have 160 at AKL and 100 at BLT. So since I watched the webcast this is what was offered:

BLT- $130 per point. Going to $140 next week. 50-99 pts $4 credit plus $2 for watching webcast. 100-149 pts $12 credit plus $2 for watching webcast.

AKV- $120 per points---100 pts (which I am thinking of getting) $12 credit plus $2. $300.00 Visa pre-paid card. None for BLT. $1200 down payment and $164.00 closing costs.

So what do you think?

We're waiting to add-on while on the cruise - usually best price and extras too! With BLT going up $10, might be a wash by December.
:goodvibesRoll of the dice!

I would suggest adding on at Bay Lake - there are many reasons, but the biggest one is this:
AKV will not sell out for quite some time.
BLT will sell out this year.

And finally -
BLT's maint. fees are going to cost you less in the long run.

If I were in your shoes, I would take advantage of the price of BLT before it goes up - while you have the lower price and the additional discount!

BLT for $116 is a good deal!

I wish I were adding points instead of fixing the AC. :sad2:

Although...I admit. Hubby wanted to put off the AC repair to purchase our APs.

Good point.

Not sure what the current offers on the cruises are, but we were on the 5/3 Alaska cruise when we added on at Aulani.

Had the contracts on our kitchen table, just waiting for a chance to get to a notary, when we watched the webcast. The deal was a couple of $$ better than what we had on the cruise paperwork, so we called our guide and he had the contract rewritten with the webcast offer.

It saved us about $300.

Maybe they adjusted the cruise offers after that; I don't know. But we were lucky with the timing of the webcast.

When did they start adding closing costs to add-ons? These used to have $0 closing costs.

Is the add on including all current points? Any points from last year?

To me the price is high compared to what we can get through resale - but then I'm not looking to use my points anywhere but at DVC locations.

But AKV has some of the lowest point costs per room with the value and standard categories and BLT has some of the highest. When I've compared it AKV that is the better value depending on how you use your points. If you plan on adding BLT later then it would make sense to buy now but if you are deciding between the two there isn't any cut and dried difference even with the lower maint fees at BLT due to the higher point cost per room.

When did they start adding closing costs to add-ons? These used to have $0 closing costs.

The started in early/mid March.

We had 160 at AKV and found it didn't get us very far. So we added on another 100 for a total of 260. Wanted to be able to have enough points to book savannah view and/or concierge if we ever wanted it. Of course it all depends on what time of year you plan your visits. Good Luck - sounds like a "fun" decision! :goodvibes

I think after everyone trying to add on in March at a certain date, you have to pay closing costs. 100 points for this year and then 100 for next February UY. So that would mean all my points are in the February UY.

We got off the cruise 5/8, and noticed that the webcast $$ incentives were better than the cruise $$ incentives (unless you count the 18 fastpasses they were including on the cruise).

But BLT will eat your points quicker and lonf term MF's will most likely not fall into place until DVD parts with their new resort sharing of that cost %. You will see that low cost MF slowly change after time. If basing your decision on location only, then BLT should win out

Decisions decisions. But I think I am going with BLT. Not just for location. The point usage hit home and 100 points right now isn't enough. I think 200 will be good and since we like to do split stays between AKV and BLT it will not drain our BLT points.
