UH OH....... I am this close to booking a Jan. trip....

I say grab those low fares now. Southwest has bought Airtran, when the merger is complete there will be less competition in the marketplace.

Airtran and SWA are the only nonstop flights to MCO out of PIT. I'm thinking our days of good prices are going to be over.

I am thinking that exact same thing. I remember ONCE getting flights out of BWI on SW for one of our Jan. trips.... for 49 bucks. Then I got the Southwest Ding and I got them for 34. :goodvibes GONE Are those days.

Wow I thought my schools were they only one with that crazy off days: 1/2 day on fri 21st and off 24th and 25th. We are going with another family for a total of 11 people. We are staying at Pop with free dining. This will be my first trip stay in a value. But the people we are going with tour commando style so I didn't want to waste points.

Actually our kids have 2 hr. early dismissals Tuesday through Friday that week. Then get off Monday and Tuesday. The high school kids are taking exams those 4 early dismissal days. We love going in late Jan. I just get nervous with the snow/exam schedule changing after everything is booked:scared1:.

Good luck in the value. If we had to do it all over again we would have gone with POP over ASMU when we stayed ONE night there. It was in a family suite and we DIDN"T LIKE IT.

I concur with your snow concerns. Last year we did have alot of snow but the end of Jan was clear and cold here I remember cuz we went skiing in the Poconos and had a 4 day villa rental.

Now I thinking of taking dd off on thurs and taking a 11am flight to get there early before the other 2 groups arrive (around 10pm!) and getting some MK fireworks in. I like to be set up in my room then I feel my vacation can start and getting in at 10pm isnt gonna cut it. But then I feel guilty taking her out of school.

I feel that way too.... there are lots of reasons TO GO.... :goodvibes However we were not planning on going until next November. I will have to think a while longer on this while at work today. :goodvibes I did check airfare this morning....still 60 bucks. :thumbsup2

I will NUDGE you if you NUDGE me!!! :rotfl2:

Noticed you originally weren't planning to go until next November. No telling if there will be another military discount then. I say go now! We were pleasantly surprised when we stopped at Shades of Green last Sunday to pick up tickets and they told me they had just started selling the Military tickets again.

How old is dd? I say FOR FOR IT. We sometimes take ours out 2 days...ONLY because it is the beginning of a new semester. For high school that equates to ONLY missing one of each class since they do an A day B day schedule. I think we are only going with 1 day this time since we think our high school son is bringing a friend along. His parents might not go for 2 days.

she is 13 in 8th grade. I spoke with her and told her she needs to bust her butt if she wants to miss that last full day of the 2nd semester if she wants to go to wdw early. Ofcourse she agreed, though I will be watching like a hawk. I feel I have to agree she can miss since I allowed her 15yr sister to miss school to go to the US Open in September. Heck life is too short!

:sad2: Just do it, Denise.

Just do it. Grab what you can while you can... the future is NOW my friend :)

MB and I have decided tonight to bank our VB Christmas trip points and book a Dream cruise in 10/2011. Something to look forward to. All treatments should be done by then (chemo that is). We're excited about it.

Half the fun is the anticipation. :)

Thanks Rob!! I have been thinking of you both. :grouphug: I am sure that cruise will be WONDERFUL. I can't wait to hear all about it!!! :goodvibes I hope your wife is doing okay with the treatments. I know these are some tough times for her.

Yep I agree. Our kids do really well in school..so I am fine with 2 days missed. That is the most we ever let them miss. It has never been a problem. I work at an elementary school and there are lots of families that go for a week to Disney and don't blink an eye. ;)

I say GO FOR IT!!! :thumbsup2

We go every Feb and twice there was a nor easter forcasted for the day we were suppose to leave and on both occassions I scrambled to get us out a day early (5 of us). Once with Delta and the other time SW and on both occassions we did have to pay a fee to change but I was told if our orginal flight got canceled then we would get our money back for the change to just call. Both times we rolled the dice and our orginal flights were in fact canceled and we got reimbursed! (both times people we were traveling with did not leave early and ended up being delayed 2 days!) SW was much easier to deal with about getting our money back, quick phone call, done. Delta well it came down to writting a letter after calls did not work so well.

Go for it have fun!
