Uh oh are there clean dvc rooms?

I'm not a huge stickler for cleanliness. Don't get me wrong--I want a room that is surface clean. I don't want to see other people's hair in the bathroom, litter on the rug, obvious kitchen messes or dirty dishes. But I'm not going to go crawling under the sofa looking for left-over garbage, nor would I freak-out if I encountered someone's leftover Cheerio that rolled under the armoire. .

Actually I do at least half of the cleaning myself and do a very thorough job. :cool2:

Don't get me wrong--I don't expect to walk into a hotel room and find soiled sheets, litter across the floor, overflowing trash cans, sticky counter tops, etc. We all know what a room looks like when it has been serviced. But at the same time, someone else's stray Cheerio isn't going to send me flying to the front desk for satisfaction.

At home--the place where I live 50+ weeks out of the year--I KNOW what has been cleaned. It would be naive to think we have as much control over our environment in a hotel room as we do in our own homes.

Had to take a management class few years ago conducted by the Founders for Century 21 real estate. anyway....They had found the an unhappy customer will tell 15-17 people of there experience if unsatisfactory, same customer will tell 1-2 ppl of a good experience.
So when reading negative remarks on current DVC rooms I remember that, HOWEVER I do wish that posters would put the room number associated with the negative stay so other members could be informed.
Wish Caskbill was still with us THAT would be a GREAT program for him to right a room tracker....sure do miss that fella.....Shawnpirate:

There was a program for that some time ago - not sure if it was on the DIS or somewhere else but it gave people a chance to report on their room and its condition as well as anything that might be special about it.

I've stayed at BWV three times in 4 rooms since joining. 4/07, 1/08, and 3/09.

In '07 - the 2 bedroom villa was clean but very tired.
In '08 - both rooms were very bright and clean, but we did have a dirty glass , and housekeeping left the cap of a ballpoint pin on the bed (no biggie).
In '09 - everything was perfect.

After '07, I was kind of shocked at how nice and bright the rooms could be.

Of course we had a tired room for a very good reason...I was showing off to the folks! :confused3

O.K., so I'm going to report a "clean room". We just returned from Disney's Hilton Head Resort, and I have to say the room was in great shape. Well, actually, it was a two bedroom villa, and the whole thing was great. The beds were in great shape, everything was clean, it made for a very good experience. My daughter decided she would call mousekeeping before we left and let them know how we appreciated a very clean room. She told her that she knew she probably got a lot of criticism, so she wanted to praise them.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and are looking forward to another one.:thumbsup2

My rooms have always been clean. Once there was a minor issue at SSR, and while it was not a great thing I just cleaned up the minor mess myself.

I have stayed in many Disney hotels over the years and some of the rooms have not been super clean. Bottom line, you're staying in a hotel or timeshare used hundreds of times a year by all kinds of people. Are you bound to find a little dirt once in a while? Of course. I wouldn't worry about it. Go and enjoy and if your unit is not up to par then be sure to let housekeeping, the front desk, or management know. Disney is usually very good about making things right for the guest.

The problem with that is you never know when a room will receive attention. If someone reports a room with worn carpeting, the carpet could then be replaced a week later. Yet for weeks, months or years that room could sit on a list with a "worn carpeting" notation. With the thousands of DVC rooms we now have, there will never be enough feedback to keep those maintenance reports current and meaningful.
