What is the policy on upgrades or additional rooms at check in.

We are going the last week of September and have a group of 5 adults, and two kids 1 and 3. We really want to keep the group together if possible.
We are booked in a 2 bedroom at Saratoga Springs with the free dining. (Only 2 bedroom available with the free dining). I would book an extra studio but want to keep us together. Also I would book the Grand Villa which is available but not with the free dining. I can't justify $1,070 a night without the dining.

So here's the questions. If we check in and the Grand Villa is available will they cut us a deal since otherwise they will be sitting with the empty room, or will it be rack rate.

Same if we get into the 2 bedroom and need more room. Will they discount the studio to fill the room if it is available, what about AAA discount. Can I get that?

Thanks

DVC rooms are the hardest to get upgrades on. However, if the Villa is available you might have a better shot then a DVC member (they won't upgrade us LOL!) I would not get your hopes up. It may very well book or they may let it sit empty. The DVC resorts work on a different accounting methodology then the normal rooms and if that Villa is in the DVC inventory and not the "Disney" inventory, Disney doesn't see it as "sitting empty" (Which may be why the dining is not avaiable there)

They do have AAA and AP discounts on the studios. However, they book up fastest. (Fewest points for DVC members)

One thing to keep in mind is the front desk staff at these resorts probably deals with fewer "cash" customers then at a normal hotel and may not be as inclined to deal. Not sure just a thought?
