Ughhh already overwhelmed and dont know where to start.

We are planning our first trip to WDW in January 2015. The site doesn't allow me to book now. My husband is also military and know they give discounts. So where do I began??? Help!! Please!!!

I don't know where you're planning on staying but as US military the first choice should be Shades of Green, the DoD resort at WDW, near the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom. If you want I can ask my wife to send you here files on facilities, resturants etc. Or you can just call the Disney number and talk to a person there.

I started planning our first trip on October. It's all booked now for May. My husband is also military. Here is what I suggest. Look for the hotels you like you have choice to stay on site or not. I would say depending on your budget. Staying on site was what we chose. We got a room discount for a family suite at Art Of Animations resort. Our tickets for parks we will get those on post since they are cheaper. Let me know if you have more questions.

We have been to Disney 5 times in the last 6 years, we are military and have yet to stay at SoG I am not sure why we don't, I think I need more of a Disney vibe. SoG is a very pretty resort but I think it is more that I want to try to stay at every Disney resort..lol. There are great room rates for military at Disney Resorts and we get our park tickets right at SoG when we arrive in Florida. We usually purchase the DDP due to the fact our DD7 likes the character meals and this is usually where you can break ahead on the dining plan if you purchase it. If you stay at a disney resort and you are military you can purchase the dining plan without having to purchase the magic your way package which is: Resort, tickets & meal plan. Everyone is different, always read great reviews about SoG. This year we may do a Disney cruise and then hit the parks after the cruise..still trying to decide.
