UGHH! Please help us with this math problem!

Nick is doing number patterns. He understands the following pattern but can't describe it in anything less then 100 words! I have a cold and took some cold medicine so brain will not work in order to help him! He needs to discribe the following pattern:
z,a,y,b,x,c
He understands it is last, first, etc but can't get it to make sense on paper.
Can someone that maybe hasn't taken cold medicine help him please.

You start at the back of the alaphbet and for every letter you place from the back, you must place one from the front next.

For example you will place z then place a and continue until you run out of letters.

I haven't counted the words, but how about assigning a number to each letter & then reduce by 1 or increase by 1 until you hit the middle? Or just say something about starting with the last, then first, go back to the end & use the next letter in sequence...somthing along those lines??

How about this..... The pattern is, the last letter of the alphabet back to the first letter in the alphabet. The second to the last letter of the alphabet back to the second letter in the alphabet. The third to the last letter of the alphabet back to the third letter in the alphabet does that help?

Thanks! I knew my DisFriends could help him write it out a way that was understandable. Normally I could help him do this but my brain is in a fog. What's even more fun is I am scribing for him because he sprained his right hand last Wednesday! So he is having to check what I am writing to make sure I am writing it correctly. He says he is going to tell his teachers I was on drugs when I was scribing for him! Gotta love 12 year olds! Thanks again!!

I would say that the pattern is the backwards alphabet from z to a alternating with the forwards alphabet from a to z.

P.S. - I'm curious about the exact wording of the question or the direction. That would help in determining what kind of answer is probably being sought.

Give a shout if you're still looking for thoughts on this. I think I can come up with a couple more ideas. If you're all set, great!
