I work in a Law Office. I asked my boss if I could have the summer off to be home with my son, he said yes. They weren't thrilled with the idea, but in any event they still approved it. Fast forward to this past Saturday. They called and asked if I could work some hours this week because the girl handling my work is overwhelmed. Since DS is in MI still I agreed to work Mon., Tues. and half day today (he is coming home tonight).
So today I'm at work, I look at the copy machine and see a letter sitting on it addressed to one of our clients who had a Will done months ago before I left and had problems with the Will not naming a specific Trust. The second paragraph of this letter I see says " While it is not an excuse, one of our secretaries decided to take the summer off because of personal problems". What?! Why are they using ME as their excuse?!
Now the issue with their Will was nothing I could help with, it was an attorney client matter. I don't deal with trusts, I just type the Will as dictated to me by the Attorney. The clients came in and met with the attorney before I left and apparently the problem wasn't resolved and they called a few times to make appointments before I left, which were ultimately rescheduled because the attorneys didn't want to deal with the matter. The issue was completely out of my hands since I'm not an attorney. Whatever happened after I left wasn't my issue, and If I had been there, it still wouldn't have been my issue because they should have allowed the people to come in to take care of the problem!
I'm so mad that they are using me as an excuse as to why they haven't gotten these people's Will fixed!! Of course the letter goes on to provide other excuses with other people being out of the office as well, but geez..what a very unprofessional way of conducting business! Blaming everyone else but themselves!
I was so tempted to say something today, but I didn't want to cause conflict because I am going back there in a few weeks. Would you have said something?

that I had a job that gave me the whole summer off just because I asked for it and that would outweigh any other issue I might have with them.
I hope my boss doesn't read the DIS!
Well actually I shouldn't say "them". I like my main boss and he loves me. It's the other one I can't tolerate
