I don't know what my problem is these past few days. I have been reading a lot lately and all of a sudden, I just can't seem to get interested in a book. I recently read and enjoyed The Tenth Circle, The Doctor's Wife, and Beach Road. In the last few days I tried Kite Runner and put it back on the shelf after 80 or so pages. I also tried Anita Shreeves, A Wedding in December and had no interest in that either. School is ending this week and I have report cards, end of the year stuff, etc so maybe I just have too much on my mind.....any book suggestions??

Thanks,
Karen

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

Memoirs of a Geisha (SO much better than the movie!!)

I havent read it yet but I want to go to the library to get "The Secret Life of Bees".

My fav is The Five people you meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom and of course Tuesdays with Morey!

I say go for the trashy romance novels until the school year is over and your mind isn't occupied with other things.

I started "The Secret Life Of Bees" yesterday. I'm about half way through and am really enjoyinh it.

I, too, just finished The Tenth Circle and The Doctor's Wife and didn't overly care for either of them.

I just read Salem Falls (another Jodi Piccoult) and it was pretty good.

Jodi Piccoult has a new one out.. the title has ten or tenths in it. I've read all of her stuff besides this one.

I read a very interesting book called Challenger Park. It is about a husband and wife who both work at NASA. They are both on separate astronaut teams. The husband goofs up his last mission and is in effect permanently grounded. The wife then gets called up for a space mission. It talks about how she feels about going into space, being a working mother, having strain on the marriage (the husband and wife drift apart due to career jealousy). Something happens on the wifes mission and the story goes on from there.

I like intelligent books. This wasn't all fluff but had some interesting tidbits about the space program, the training (it isn't like Mission Space at Disney World--it sounds like). The author either currently works /worked at NASA so the information sounds credible.

Its a story about love, life, career, some romance, and being a parent.

The Tenth Circle. That's the one the OP just read and I did too. Not very good.

Lisa Jackson books are good - kind of romance/thriller. I'm reading "Shiver" right now...Fatal Burn is good, Deep Freeze....

I am reading A Wedding in December and it got off to a slow start, but now I am getting into it. I am in the same boat. I am a teacher and right now I just want FLUFF.

Try "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. Reads like watching a movie -- very captivating, descriptive and enjoyable. It's a thick book but you will fly through it!

Also, Pope Joan is v. good. Read it for book club and was convinced I'd hate it but it is another page-turner.

And, someone suggested "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamante. I loved this book and thought the ending was esp. beautifully written!
