Ugh, time to renegotiate Sirius XM radio

Call and tell them you want to cancel because it's too expensive. The lowest they'll go is $25 for five months.

I forgot to do it twice now. I'm keep it through this month and then I'm going to actually cancel it, I think. I think I can live with my radio and CDs for a while.

I just got it for I believe $5 a month for 6 months last month. Tell them you have heard of people getting it for that and they will usually match or something close.

You can negotiate? Well dang. I've just been paying "rack rate'. Lol.

Call them and threaten to cancel unless you get a better rate. They will offer you a "promotional rate" for 6 or 12 months, and if you don't cancel before the end of the promo, you will be automatically renewed at "rack" rate. It's a bit of a pain to go through the exercise every 6 months, but it beats paying the full price.

Telling them that someone else you know got a better deal won't always work. With that argument, they know you want to keep the service, so they'll come up with some reason why you don't qualify for the special rate. Stick with the line that you're cancelling because it's too expensive. Give them a problem they can solve.

I cancelled after my free promo period and within 2 weeks the customer retention department called and offered me the 6-months for $29 promo rate. About a week before that promo period was up I called and said I wanted to cancel at the end of the promo because it was too expensive for my budget. They asked what would work with my budget. I told them that continuing at the $5/month rate for the next 12 months would be perfect. They couldn't do that but I was able to get it for about $6.50/month for 12 months. Every year I call back the week before my promo rate expires and say I want to cancel. While the rate has inched up over the last 5 years, I'm still only paying about $7.50/month.

After multiple times of negotiating with them and never being successful I finally just called to cancel last time and be done with it. After they transferred me to a cancellation specialist she offered a year of the mid package for $89, so I took it. I'll do the same thing next year because it's just not worth the rack rate to me anymore.

If you say no to the $89/year, they'll offer a better, but shorter deal. Most report $25 for 5 months, but there have been reports of $20 or $30 or six month deals.

For me it was worth the extra couple bucks a months to not have to call back every few months and re-negotiate...But I'm sure some people don't mind the hassle of doing that.

If I didn't buy a lifetime subscription years ago. I would have dumped them a long time ago. Even with that they get me when I swap radios. 75 bucks a swap...

I just got this in my new car. I got a notice in the mail saying my free trial is ending. Is there any advantage to Sirrius over just bluetoothing pandora or something from my cell? That would be free. We really only listen to radio disney anyway.

just did this today-got the all access package for $10 per month/12 months, and the travel link for $11.94 for the entire year (so basically $1.00 per month). asked for cancelation department from the get-go, and after getting transferred twice negotiated it down to this. much better than the $21.00 per month they quoted on my renewal paperwork.

I purposely had them bill me and sent a check last year so they wouldn't have a credit card on file to renew with.

It's worked for me 3 or 4 times now. Only one time it didn't but I still ended up paying a much lower rate then the advertised rate.

Check around to see if any car manufacturers are offering any incentive rates, then call and tell them that your aunt/uncle/mother/father/whatever was offered that rate. I was able to get $77/year for three years in a row because of a GM offer before finally just dumping it entirely for my phone plus Spotify/Pandora/Slacker.

I just called last week. We have 2 cars and I was able to get a total of $55.62 for both cars for 6 months (with tax etc) last time so I told the girl straight out I would be canceling unless I could get the same price and surprise she agreed. I was shocked it didn't take much effort this time. I am sure next time may not go so well

I just renewed for around 75.00 for 12 mths. They quoted me some initial rate, and I just said it wasn't in my budget, and could they do a little lower.

Do you have to call, or can you get this online? DH has this, but we are paying full price, and I am sure he won't call.
