So, DH and I were scheduled to depart Louisville International tomorrow at 7am and arrive in Orlando at 9:05am. Got home tonight around 9:30pm only to find a message on our machine that our flight was canceled! I logged on to Delta's website and found that we were now on a flight for 1pm and would arrive in Orlando at 3pm. I was not happy, as tomorrow is one of our days at the parks, not just a day to arrive and hang around the resort.

Luckily, I got a WONDERFUL Delta person on the phone that was able to help me a great deal. I had already looked and I knew that they had no other early flights for tomorrow. So I asked about flying out of Cincy since there was a direct flight at 8:23am. He first said I would have to pay the ticket difference (well over $800) plus the $50 transfer fee. After asking more questions about why my flight was canceled (to which he never could find any info) he said he would check about getting the fees waived since this was involuntary. And woo hoo, we're on our way to Cincy!

So, it worked out okay for us, just a slight change in our schedule, but we are on a larger jet (won't have to worry about gate checking my carry on) and our return flight is now a direct flight (originally had to lay over in Cincy in route to Louisville).

Just wanted to let others know to check right up until the last minute!!!

Out flight times have changed twice on Delta for December. After the 2nd change we were up to a 5 hour layover, which did not make me happy. I called Delta and got a great rep, now leaving MCO at 12:30 and back to MKE at 3:30. I just noticed though that on the way down we only have a 38 min. layover in ATL.....

Hi,

We were scheduled for the same flight out of SDF on Aug. 15. They cancelled it a couple of months ago and put us on a flight leaving at 6:30 going through Cincinnati and arriving MCO at 10:23. I checked every other day of the week that we're leaving and they still offer the 7 am flight, except for our day. I'd rather them change it in further in advance rather than at the last minute. We decided to keep the flight they put us on which will still give us time to go to a park the first day.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm glad things worked out for you. :thumbsup2

We're flying on Delta this October and I check my itinerary every day (we've already been changed a few times; no major schedule changes - *yet*). I'll make sure to watch up until the '11th hour' and call ASAP if there are any major changes.

Enjoy your trip!

Debbie

I had a flight change with Delta last November but when I told the rep that it would not work for me because of the new flight times conflicting with previous plans, they were great about re-booking on a more convenient flight. I think when they are the ones to impose the change (especially if the times are significantly different than what you booked), they are pretty decent (if they can be) about trying to please you.

We were driving to Orlando until recently when Southwest dinged with $98 roundtrip flights. So... now we are flying. :cool1: I read on another thread that now Delta also has the $98 roundtrip flights. I was thinking about changing because Delta has the resort check-in perk for your returning flight. After reading this, I think I am going to leave well enough alone and keep my Southwest flight :goodvibes . I am a plan-a-holic and would absolutely FREAK  if this happened to me. Good luck with your flight schedules. I hope they don't change any further. :)

If you are going to be so "freaked" about airline schedule changes, I suggest that you stick to driving. Airlines change their schedules and flight arrivals/departures are delayed all the time for every airline.

Airlines change their schedules and flight arrivals/departures are delayed all the time for every airline.

While all airlines do sometimes have to change flights/schedules on short notice (especially due to weather), some airlines are much more likely to do it than others.

While I don't know exact numbers, IME SWA is much less likely to cancel a flight than Delta is, so I'd say that poster made the better choice for herself in going with SWA. Once SWA announces the schedule for a given period, they very seldom change it except in cases of force majeure, and equipment changes are much less of an issue because they only fly 737's. Delta changes equipment and schedules at the drop of a hat, which is one of the reasons that I fly them only when there is no other viable choice on my route.
