Ugh! The Disney Store confiscated my MKC card!

When I made a purchase this week at TDS and gave them my Magic Kingdom Club card for the 10% discount, they told me it was no longer being accepted. I was given the discount this "one last time" and then they took my card! I know the Disney Club has replaced MKC, but I had also read on these boards and been told by a TDS CM that they would continue to accept it until the expiration date of 1/02. I have been using it all year. I felt no need to PURCHASE a DC card until we were closer to our vacation time in 02. I also noticed a sign was posted near the register that said MKC was no longer being accepted. Come on...Disney just couldn't let me have my discount for the last 6 months of the year!

I threw mine out, MKC, and purchased DC. As an MKC member, you are entitled to $10 off a DC card - just give them your chapter #.

I didn't think it would be worth it to join DC as I am an AP holder. WRONG! This summer they are not offering AP discounts on rooms. I saved $70 on my car rental for 11 days w/ National using a coupon and contract code.

I know the point you are making, but if you are a repeat customer at the Disney stores, you will get that membership fee back in no time!

My daughter was told that I should order my new disney card last month by a cm at the disney store,
she told my daughter that they would take the card in May when I went to use the card. So I did order mine on the end of April.. I already have my new card.. I was really surprised that I recieved the card right away.

I cant believed that disney would just stop taking the old disney card but they did, if they took your card..Its kind of sad.. why couldnt they just wait until the time ran out on the cards, but you will get $10 off on getting your new card.. my card didnt have a chapter #. I dont know why but the chapter # was all zeros, but they did give me the ten dollars off the new card..
so just call them and tell them what happen.. I'm sure you will still get $10 off.

MKC cards are discontinued as of Jan. 2001. It dosen't matter what the expiration date is on your card (mine was vailid for one whole year with a vaild chapter number-through Dec.2001) Even WDW parks and resorts will not honor the card any longer, so really isn't of any use now. I think it was very nice of TDS to offer it to you one last time, but that's probably why they also took it it away.

If you are still looking to get some discounts you should look into joining the Disney Club, but that membership is not for everyone. So, make sure they give you the benifits before you join for the year.

That must be a really new policy from the big dogs then. I was just there two to three weeks ago and they still let me use mine. I was told last January/February that the Disney Stores will be honoring it up until December 2001 and I have been able to use mine every time I shopped there this year. Theme Parks, etc though aren't honoring it.

I have had my DC card since last Fall. It has more than paid for itself.
My only complaint is that Disney should remain consistent and make everyone pay for this discount card, if they charge a fee for them at all.
I wonder if the McDonald's Crew discount cards are given to McDonald's employees free. That's the impression I get when I see those cards sold on Ebay.
I don't think Disney should charge their regular, good customers. And then give their DC cards to those who sell them for profit.
I think it stinks.

This is a relatively new policy. We have known about it for a few weeks; it went into effect May 1. Ifn you used your card a few months ago and weren't told anything, that would be why.
