Okay I am sorry for this but I just really, really need to vent.

We have our planning trip next month and I'm setting up all our vendor appointments. We aren't sure if we are renting a car or not, but most vendors have been really great about meeting us at the hotel for a consultation-type meeting.

I was actually really surprised that one of the vendors who is highly recommended on this board wouldn't come to us. He/She (I don't want to be rude and give out the name) insisted we go to them to see their work in person. I said it wasn't doable because we aren't renting a car. (Even if we were, I'm not sure if I would go to them since so many other vendors are willing to come to us, plus we aren't familiar with the area). Anyway, I left it on a friendly note saying well maybe we can just do a phone convo since clearly he/she wasn't budging on coming to us, and we are unable to go to them. He/she said that's perfect.

Well, if we are traveling all the way from NY to FL and you won't come meet us because we have to see things by you, then why are you okay to discuss things over the phone?? Clearly we are going to see way less over the phone, LOL.

I really wanted to hire this person, I just need to meet with people first to discuss things, it's just how I am--especially on something so important like my wedding, and now that he/she is not being accommodating, I refuse to even consider hiring them. If your vendors aren't accommodating now, how will you know they will be on your wedding day? It just seemed like he/she expects business to come to them without doing a little work for it first :confused3

Ah, now I feel better, thanks for listening :)

We did the same thing! We arranged to meet with potential vendors at our hotel, and the ones who wouldn't come to us we didn't meet with. :thumbsup2

Most vendors try to be competitive for destination brides. If they're not willing to come to you, I wouldn't even bother doing a phone conference with them and I'd politely tell them why. I would tell them that there's other vendors who are willing to travel and accomodate destination brides; it gives them a good business edge.

That way, they might reconsider their position in the future. I wouldn't waste my time with a phone conference if you don't feel comfortable with it.

Good luck!

Not all of my vendors were willing to meet with me at my hotel. I can understand with the cost of gas. It was my photographer. So, I decided to do an engagement shoot with her so I at least go to meet her prior to the wedding. I was thrilled with my results for the e-pics and I know she's going to do a great job on the wedding. I say, don't write someone off just because they won't come to you. I mean, if you were having an at home wedding they wouldn't call come to your house. Although, I do understand your frustration.

is it me or am i really nosey? but im so intrigued as to who it is! i won't push for an answer as i appreciate why you are not mentioning them but still .....

I wouldn't even worry about that one then, if there are others who are willing to make you their number one then those are the people to do business with.

That is however just my thought.

I completely agree. I wouldn't do the phone conference because you are probably going to waste your time. If they already aren't accomodating you, I don't know if you want to risk it on the day of your wedding! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone :)

I was venting about it today to my mom and she completely agrees with me, so I feel much better.

tinkanddonaldfans...I'll PM it to you :)

vent away! We didn't have a Disney Wedding but all of our vendors here in the northeast were sooo accommodating when we were in the selection process. Makes you wonder if they really want your business when they don't want to meet with yo.
