and she said October should be busy!

I made a reservation for my DD at Camp Dolphin for our stay in Oct. DH and I will be dining at Blue Zoo that night, and you get 2 hours for your child(ren) at Camp Dolphin for FREE with a receipt.

So..I was giving all our info to the lovely woman at Camp Dolphin (she was a sweetheart, we chatted for quite awhile) and she kind of made a comment like, "Oh, yeah...you better make a reservation for your daughter!"

I said, "Oh, why? Is it busy?" She said, "Oh yes...October will be very busy!"

I told her I made my ressies for Oct because I thought it wouldn't be too crowded and she said, "Well, honey...if you want to come when it is slow, come right now! We are very slow! But starting in Oct, we get busy!"

I also just found out that Orlando area schools are OUT on Oct 13 and 14!!! Right in the middle of my trip! Arrrrgh!

Ok, sorry to complain. I know I will have fun no matter what...just a little bummed...that's all!

I think the food and wine feastival has alot to do with the crowds in october. Don't fret too much I've found that it is still less crowded in Oct then during the month of April (non school vaca week), or the summer months plus the weather is beautiful at this time of year.

This starts in Oct. and has gotten pretty busy. I know people who just go down for this event. And the weather is usually GREAT!

This will be our 3rd trip in October, just for the Food and Wine festival. We love it at this time of year. Other years, the crowds have been lower, so I am a bit apprehensive this year!

Also the Dolphin will be backed because of the Gartner ITExpo computer show on the 17-21st of October. All of the Epcot resorts will be packed then. But most of those people do not go to the parks! (Well, if I happen to go to a park no one has to know, right)?

There are a lot of conventions in October, that helps fill up convention destinations like the Dolphin.

I agree with the above posters - the Epcot area resorts (Swan, Dolphin, Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Boardwalk) tend to be very busy during the Food and Wine Festival, since they are walking distance to Epcot. Plus the Swan and Dolphin host a lot of conventions.

Well, apparently we will just miss the Gartner convention, although I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people don't add days to their convention...maybe come a few days prior to enjoy the parks and stuff, right?

Yeah, maybe she just said that because she works at the Dolphin. I have heard the Dolphin is extra busy in Oct. Of course F&W and also MNSSHP also.

Well, I have my itinerary planned...Blue Zoo one night, FDP at HBD another, MNSSHP another, PftS on sat...DD is doing Grand Adventures in Cooking at the GF and also the Albatross Cruise at Y&BC. DH is golfing one day and we also have the Princess lunch at Akershus booked.

WHEW! My wallet hurts just thinking about it!!!!!

Don't worry... at least you are not going during Christmas or during Easter! Can you imagine the crowds during those times... Believe me.. October is still a very good time to go comparing to other times.. have fun!!

awww, thanks Telly! I know you are right!

So...when is YOUR next trip to WDW??????? :confused3

Ha h a ha ha.... don't tempt me to go back... you know I just got back this past August! :) Ask me again in about 4 months.. and I'll tell ya! :) Have a magical time! :wizard:

Thanks, Telly! I always enjoy reading your trip reports and seeing your pictures. They help put me in the "WDW MOOD!" You and your kids really enjoy all that WDW has to offer. I assure you...we will be doing the same in October...and when we step into the Poly for dinner I will smile and think of you!

I went to the Princess lunch at Akershus and I have to tell you that my family (3 girls-12, 10, 6 and 1 baby boy-1, my ex-MIL, housemate and her cousin and myself!!WHEW!) did NOT enjoy this character meal. The princesses came out essentially did one meet and greet at each table and then they were gone for the rest of the meal. It was VERY disappointing. All my girls have vetoed that meal for the next trip. We had much better interactions at Crystal Palace and Liberty Tavern. Even at the land's meal, and we weren't eating there!! Mickey and Goofy came and hugged my children who were doing the passport area right outside the revolving restaurant. Just my two cents, but don't waste your two cents!! :D

Thanks for the input, Kim. The thing is, I am one of those few people that LOVES the food at Akershus! I have heard both good and bad about the princesses, but it is just one of those things I have to see for myself. Even if DD doesn't get to spend time with the princesses....mommy will be too busy stuffing her face to notice! LOL! :rotfl2:
